Bob Books Set 3: Word Families

In Bob Books Set 3, children progress gently into the next steps of reading. Consonant blends, endings, and a few sight words advance reading skills and create more complex stories. Use of word families make longer stories more manageable. Children love the eight books and hilarious pictures. They delight in two fun-to-do activity books.

   Helped My Son Catch Up!
My son started in his reading slightly behind the first grade. I knew he could do it, he just needed the right reading material and practice. Completely lost on where to start, I liked what I saw with the Bob books and reviews. Starting with Book 1 from the first set, my son read through the entire series, mastering each book in about 6-7 months. I loved how each book built on the last, it was so easy for me to move forward. He thought the books were really silly, which helped keep him interested. Some books he wanted to read over and over because he enjoyed them so much. He is now at the grage level and a much more confident reader. When he read the last book, we went back to the very first book, so that he could see how far he came, and was very proud of himself. I am too! '' I am too! I just wish there was another set for the next Statge0 ( i just wish there was another set for the next statge0 ).

Steep jump from the previous set
The first two sets had nicely advanced and my daughter was no trouble. The first book in Set 3 is, however, several levels above the last book in Set 2. It has the words come, said, begged, and stopped, which has bewildered my child. These appear to be about ten books ahead in terms of progression. I'm going to see if I can find something in between and come back to these in a few weeks.

   Great for learning Word familes
I have used the Bob books for one of my students for the last 7 months. He loves her. For children who have the challenge to learn reading, the Bob books are perfect : Their very simple stories are not new, but give the just right amount of intimidating challenge to move up. In this set 3, there are two activity books to review and enforce the comprehension of all previous stories through fun activities.

   My daughter is loving these!
We love the Bob Book Series. I wanted to level up from the beginner, and these are great. Also got a few others. Also a few others. Makes a great addition to our collections! She can read 5 of these a sit down and we both enjoy!

   Love Bob books!
I teach reading to 3-4 year old preschoolers. I mostly use these books with the 4-year olds who are ready to go to kindergarten. These books give them a good foundation for reading and confidence in going to school.

   Perfectly charming for my Kindergartener
We love Bob books for strengthening the reading skills learned in school. This set is updated and the illustrations are fun and silly. I'd give it 5 stars for content I'd give it : The construction of the books is sloppy, however. We've had two that have had the middle staples not go through all the way and pages seem out of order. This is particularly bad for the Book 4, The Red Car. Add to that, there are no page numbers as in previous Bob books, so I don 't even know if I place the pages in the right order, and some of it is due to the humor of the stories. Overall, we love our Bob book reading time. They are the perfect size and length for this age group in terms of size and length.

   Perfect for improving reading.
Wow, these are wonderful gifts. I ordered and used the Stage 2 for emerging readers and recently the Stage 3 for the developing reader. Other publishers list words in the word families just like other publishers. Bob's books makes STORIES out of the word Families. This really makes the child feel accomplished when they read an entire book. I use these with my 5 year old great grandson and we were supposed to skip a day, but after reading 3 stories from Stage 2 emerging reader, he was asked to read the next day! Imagine a child asking for school work!...I continue to order the other sets Bob has out! ! !

   Great set for intermediate readers
A new set, but the words were a little more advanced than I expected for my cute reader. I was thinking 3 letter word groupings and phonetics, but it was 4-6 letter words. But I still recommend it for stronger readers or beginners who need to be challenged.
