Too easy for my first grader
I bought this book and am really disappointed. My child's learning is average for her age and yet she is completing chapters within one sitting because she finds the lessons easy to understand. She asked why I bought her the easy workbook, because these were the basic learnings from kindergarten. I would like to see more pages in person to make a better assessment before purchasing. This has turned out to be a waste of money and I'm going to look for a different one.

   Love these Brain Quest Workbooks.
This is exactly what I wanted. My daughter is going into the first grade this fall and these books are great for her. They need to push her to learn. I don't have to make her do work in this book because she wants to do it herself. If someone is looking to buy a workbook, I would suggest this. She completed the kindergarten last summer to make sure she was up to par for school.

   Love it!
My daughter has never been a fan of studying and homework, but since she got this workbook, that has changed! She likes it! It is perfect for her. She is in first grade so we bought that one. I highly recommend.

Great book poor handling during shipping
The book is great, but my rating is based on the fact that the bottom of the book was damaged when it was run over.

   Great buy!
My son hates learning but he loves this book. The measuring section is very fun and interesting. I think you should.

   Good resource. Bad font.
There is a lot of good material for supplemental education. The fonts is the biggest complaint. The letter g is written differently than how kids write it. I have to keep repeating to my kid not to copy what's written here. Not enough was enough to switch to a new book.

Content is great but the font is a poor choice!!
We've used them for Pre-K. My kids are challenged in some areas, but the content is great and shows where they are at. Many of the lessons use a different type of fonts. It's difficult to learn to read from older style a's. As a designer, I understand the need for multiple fonts, but could they not find letters that looked like the normal alphabet rather than letters that a 5-year-old has never seen written that way?

Boring and not challenging for 1st grade
Most of it can be done with Pk-4. It does not sound like a first grade challenge.

NOT WHAT THEY USED TO BE.
I have seen a decline in the quality and academic validity of brain quest since I began using them to teach my children. The list of sub standard material in this book is too extensive to list. I found teaching ancient Egypt to refer to the Hebrew slaves as builders unacceptable. This is similar to teaching American history and calling African slaves farmers. The text does not answer the question. For example, page 97. The child is expected to know where Miami is because it is not on the map. The text on the page does not answer any of the questions. I am not surprised at the decline in academic standard over the past decade, just disappointed.

I never would have thought it would be this easy to get him to do schoolwork during the summer
My son loves this book. The stickers in the back caught his attention. I put a sticker on a page if he completes it correctly. It is easy to get him to do schoolwork during the summer.
