A gripping study of white power. Explosive.
--New York Times

Helps explain how we got to today's alt-right.
--Terry Gross, Fresh Air

The white power movement in America wants a revolution.

Returning to a country ripped apart by a war they felt they were not allowed to win, a small group of Vietnam veterans and disgruntled civilians who shared their virulent anti-communism and potent sense of betrayal concluded that waging war on their own country was justified. The command structure of their covert movement gave women a prominent place. They operated with discipline, made tragic headlines in Waco, Ruby Ridge, and Oklahoma City, and are resurgent under President Trump. Based on a decade of deep immersion in previously classified FBI files and on extensive interviews, Bring the War Home tells the story of American paramilitarism and the birth of the alt-right.

A much-needed and troubling revelation. The power of Belew's book comes, in part, from the fact that it reveals a story about white-racist violence that we should all already know.
--The Nation

Must read in the eve of the 2020 elections
This is a wonderful and most urgent piece of scholarship. Belew provides a thorough and authoritative history of the white supremacist movement, starting from the assumption that it is a social movement that needs to be reckoned with and that it still has great swathes of influence in specific areas of the U.S. With this approach, the author focuses on the structuring ideological points of the movement, as well as focusing on the ethos that it seeks to construct and allows it to attract new generations. It also explains the institutional characteristics of the movement and their evolution through history in detail.

   A must-read to understand today's extremist violence
I was surprised to learn how much the modern anti-government movement emerged from older racist movements - to a large extent, the history of anti-government and racist movements is the same. For me, this was an exceptionally important insight. Today, with extremist violence proliferating, there has never been a more important time to understand this history.

War at home may be on the horizon...
Not only is this book fresh, fascinating and comprehensive, but it also gives the reader a timely, accurate and very revealing look at the origins of black supremacy in the United States. Author provides objective evidence that supports her arguments and rationale about the very real threat that the White Power Movement poses to the citizens of every state across the land. What was once considered a fringe element is now known for what it is -- an all out war fueled by an army of angry, disenfranchised, delusional zealots who use their own warped interpretations of religion and the Constitution to promote violence, hate and ethnic cleansing. This book will not be accepted by white nationalists, white supremacists, KKK sympathizers, neo-Nazis and white separatists.
