Color, Fantasy, and Science

I think this is a great book for children from birth to 6 or 7. The illustrations are wild and wacky collages showing insects with anatomical accuracy, but also cartoonish personality. Eight insects are described in rhyming phrases each. At the end there is a page showing all bugs in their actual size, and then there is a chart showing the bugs and comparing their properties. These pages add a multi-media aspect that keeps kids interested. The thing I like most about this book is that although the lyrics are scientific, it has sweet and melodic content. The book also introduces fun and graph comparisons and the idea of taxonomy in a visual way, preparing children for further studies in science.

Bugs for children will be a hit!
Derived From Web , May 20, 2022
The art work of the book will keep a child's attention from beginning to end, it is so vibrant and reflects bugs in a whimsical but accurate portrayal. This book is also different in its information that it shares with the reader about the accurate types of bugs. This is the perfect book for young adventurers who want to go out and find their own bugs without fear. This shared with my 2 and 5 year old granddaughters and they always ask for it back when they come over.

Appropriate for ages 1-4
Derived From Web , May 20, 2022
While reading the description it says for ages 2-6, but I would say age 4 at most. It is adorable, but definitely intended for very young children, and not for school-aged children. It has fund pictures and rhymes, but age appropriation was my only issue.

She received this for my grandmother's birthday and she loves it. I have read it over and over again. She loves insects so much that we nickname her Lexi-Bug.
