Good to Great is about turning good results into great results; Built to Last is about turning great results into an enduring great company. so write Jim Collins and Jerry Porras in this groundbreaking book that shatters myths, provides new insights, and gives practical guidance to those who would like to build landmark companies that stand the test of time.
Drawing upon a six-year research project at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, Collins and Porras took eighteen truly exceptional and long-lasting companies and studied each company in direct comparison to one of its top competitors. They examined the companies from their very beginnings to the present day, as start-ups, as midsize companies, and as large companies. Throughout, the authors asked: What makes the truly exceptional companies different from other companies?
Collins and Porras go beyond the incessant barrage of management buzzwords and fads of the day to discover timeless qualities that have consistently distinguished outstanding companies. They also provide inspiration to all executives and entrepreneurs by destroying the false but widely accepted idea that only charismatic visionary leaders can build visionary companies.

I got a used book after I bought a good book at a new price.I was pretty upset about that.I bought this in the beginning of the year. It sat on my bookshelf for over a year and I just opened it to find some writings.I am upset that I have to pay for a new book but not a used one.

Millionaire next door on business.
Derived From Web , Oct 11, 2020
T he book explains why some businesses grow and others fail. The authors did research on businesses, like the author of millionaire next door made on individuals, to see what makes them successful. The core values, the right attitude, the why of the business, and many other things can be learned if you read the book. This is a great choice for a new business owner.

Outstanding writing and reference

I appreciate books that are research based, rather than theoretical supposition. This book is exactly what it is. The data uncovered from the research was used by the two authors to present the UN- polluted facts in an unbiased manner.I ordered a second copy to give to my friend, who I felt could also take a lot out of understanding it. There are lots of great information.

Must read!
Derived From Web , Aug 18, 2018
If you want to know what it takes to be a successful company, read this. Managers at visionary companies don't accept the idea that they have to choose between short- term performance or long- term success. They build first and foremost for the long term, while simultaneously holding themselves to demanding short- term standards. One of my favorite quotes in this book is p182.

Strongly recommend for students
Derived From Web , Jul 31, 2018
T his was shared with an intern working for me. Jim Collins has come up with a list of criteria and focus areas that real leaders need to dedicate their time to for long term success. There are no silly How to Make Friends... and other half- baked advice. Jim Collins does research. My management and leadership experience is perfect. Strongly recommend for students, early professionals interested in long- term success, and the mid- level manager who feels they may not have been mentored in a quality environment.

Good information

I think there are better books for this. The book is a quick read. The tone of voice is very similar to having a conversation with a friend. It would have been better to have a research study or a TED talk on it.
