Not perfect but toddler likes it
It is simple and to the point it is. I don 't love that there is juice in all the big kid cups, I wish it was milk because I think most people buying this are trying to get their kids to stop drinking milk out of a bottle. So, showing milk in the big kid cups would help them understand that it is no big deal to drink milk out of something else. Could also do without the page where it is implied that Zebra knocks the bottle across the room.
Bye bye bottles helped my 20 month old!
She used her bottle as a calming method and I knew that she needed to learn new skills to help herself sooth. We read it a few times a week and then became really interested in the book after a month. One day I asked if she wanted a bottle before bed and she laughed and got out her zebra book, and just like that she was over the bottle! Since then, she hasn 't had a bottle!
   So helpful!
I love this whole series of the books. We have Calm Down, Monkey, No More Pacifier, Duck and Bye-Bye Bottles, Zebra. Reading this book helped our son to understand what was coming and gave us a language to talk about it. He is proud to be a big zebra who no longer uses bottles.
   Well received by my toddler
I rated this pretty high because we transitioned faster than I thought, and this book was in our arsenal of tactics. This book, despite its strategy, could not hurt. My experience, I thought it would be a struggle to get rid of the bottle at night time. I bought this as an attempt to try everything across to get the message across. I could have been that my 2+4mo year old was ready to give it up, but either way she understood the message and enjoyed the book. She would even hold her sippy cup up to the sippy cup in the book to show me! A week in, she proudly pulled the book out and showed her aunt and proclaimed no bottles! Kids :
   No more bottles here!
Our son gave up the first night completely, and we read it to him. We read it at naps and bedtime along with the monkey calms down and the little elephant listens. If I would have known it would work so well, I would have received these long ago. I'm so grateful for these books!
Worked the 1st Night!!! No more bottles and no crying!!!
This book did the trick to get my 2nd year old off the bottle! We were super slack and dreading the process because the few times we had tried not giving him a night-time bottle, he would cry until he made himself sick. I listened to him after the bath time and he kept wanting to hear it over and over again. Beautifully written writing and colorful pictures. Then we read him in his crib for bed and put it again 2 times to him. He once asked for a Baba, I reminded him about the Zebra and how he is now a big boy and no Babas, and then he went to sleep! Since then he has not asked for a bottle and I was able to pack them all up!
My kids love the book but I'm giving it 3 stars because ...
This book is cute, but these parents either have kids ready to give up their bottles or lie about their successes. $7 was not much to spend on trying, but the message has yet to register with my 22month old twins. My children love the book, but I give it 3 stars because I don 't want other parents to think it is a miracle worker.
My little wants to be just like Zebra
When I received the book for the first time and read through it, I was really skeptical because there isn't really too much involved. The story is very short, concise, and simple. My almost two year old loves it and asks every night for Zebra. After reading this for a week straight, she woke up that morning and asked for her Zebra Cup '' instead of her bottle. She has never woken up in her life without getting her bottle as fast as possible. I'm happy and hope this sticks, as the morning bottle was our last battle point for big kid transitions.
