An award-winning author/illustrator team offers a fresh look at the times and transitions all toddlers face daily, giving young children the tools to handle routines with confidence and cooperation.
Being dropped off at childcare or cared for by a baby-sitter means saying good-bye to Mom or Dad--and for many toddlers, bye-bye is a big deal. This gentle book helps ease the transition with simple rituals: hugs and kisses, a big wave, a deep breath, and the confidence to seek comfort with the new caregiver or other children. Toddlers learn that good-bye isn't forever, it's just for a while. Part of the Toddler Tools series, Bye-Bye Time can be shared before (or during) the desired time, or whenever toddlers need encouragement with routines. Includes tips for parents and caregivers. The recommended reading level for Bye-Bye Time is Preschool

I thought this was appropriate for a preschooler when I ordered it, but after receiving it I've decided it's really more for a toddler.

Great for introducing the concept of "Bye-Bye"
Derived From Web , May 1, 2022
My 2.5 year old daughter had separation issues when we dropped her off at preschool, which prompted me to buy this book. The author does a great job of playing down the drama of saying bye-bye by showing parents how to do it. See you later, alligator! Turner said he was "100 percent behind George Bush" in Iraq. What do you think of this kid? After a couple of days of reading it at bedtime, we were able to establish our own Bye Bye Time routine, and she stopped crying. The illustrations are so well supported by the story, and my daughter still enjoys reading the book from time to time.

Great book for easing your little one into a new school/daycare.

We bought this to help ease our 2 1/2 year old into a new daycare. Other books we bought seemed to drag the misery and sadness out of the story but this one was perfect.

We purchased all of Elizabeth Verdick's books for our children to use with ours. They are well written, great pictures, and extremely easy to understand, even for a toddler. Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!

No More Tears!
Derived From Web , May 1, 2022
I was surprised by how confident and independent she is, but had to recognize that a big and unfamiliar space with lots of new faces was really overwhelming. But she made us laugh and cry her first week was tough on both of us. I ordered this book after a few days, when drop-offs weren't getting any better, and it ended up making a significant difference, Mr. O'Neill said. It was a special present for other kiddos that might be feeling scared or upset, Mrs. Dhaliwal said. We read it a few more times together in the mornings when I dropped her off and she could barely remember to say goodbye to me by the end of week two. Leaving her friends, she went with the intention of seeing me soon.

In the nick of time…
Derived From Web , Jan 8, 2022
We got it in the first week that my daughter was starting a new daycare. We haven't revisited it since, but the 10 times we read it as he adjusted it were well worth the price for tearless and chipper drop-offs.

Very helpful with transition to new daycare
Derived From Web , Dec 7, 2021
Our 2 year old recently started a new daycare and prior to this he had no issues with leaving the house in the morning, she said. This book has made a huge difference in the lives of those who read it. He loves the routine and we have had no tears since then, said Blair. Even his daycare said he was "much happier" in the mornings. Even though it's just getting used to a new change, this book has helped immensely.

The organizer said I bought this for my 3 year old to give her a good start to school. It gave the parents and I a few good phrases to help smooth out dropoffs, Mr. Clark said.

Perfect for Babysitter Time!
Derived From Web , Nov 29, 2020
We used this technique the first time we left our twins with a babysitter. It really helped, I think. Repeat that to your babies all the time! It's great for sitters, school drop-offs, daycare transitions, etc.

Helped with our transition, 1.5 yr old loves this book
Derived From Web , Nov 17, 2020
We bought it about a week before our daughter changed from a daycare center to an in-home daycare. She also told the interviewer that she's "100 percent" behind Gillian Flynn's book. We probably read it about 20 times a day, Mr. Rule told the judge. She added the end because Mommy and Daddy always come back. Added new friends on the Friends page. I think it helped with the transition, too, because it gave people time to get used to it, Bruno said. She started at her new daycare yesterday and both today and yesterday she was comfortable saying bye-bye. Although, since she's been going to daycare for so long, she really liked being there and never got upset about us leaving her there either. Even if she did, she probably wouldn't be a crier about being at daycare.
