A Twentieth Century Masterpiece

Calvin and Hobbes is one of those stories that latches onto the imagination. It goes beyond the wit and appearance of the normal comic strip and projects a level of conscientiousness that has not been seen since Bill Watterson discontinued the strip in 1995. I would say that Watterson has probably done more for the arts than most people realize. The Twentieth Anniversary book contains certainly the high points of one of the greatest artisans of comics and the story-telling of the Tenth Century. Mr. Watterson, thank you for one of the greatest pieces of art I have ever seen.

Best cartoon strip ever made

The book of wonderful stories of a boy and his stuffed tiger would be sacrilegious if it was less than a 5. I was born in the 80's and was able to go to bed at a certain age. Calvin and Hobbes changed the way I look at the world, instead of watching tv all day, I did the things Calvin did. I dug for treasure in my backyard, I went for wagon rides down steep hills in the woods, and I made tons of snowmen in front of my father's car. Calvin and Hobbes is more than just a comic strip, it's a work of art. Through different eyes, you can look at the world. Calvin has changed me in many ways and I will never be the same. If you' ve never read a Calvin and Hobbes book, you' ll fall in love with this boy and his tiger.

The older I get, the more themes seem to apply to me. Hobbs is a metaphor for life experiences. Calvin is a childish boy, but he brings out the childish ways adults behave.

I knew that I would love the Calvin and Hobbes cartoons, but I also enjoyed the commentary of the cartoonist his experiences about why he did certain things, etc. Good stuff! Definitely recommend! Definitely recommend!

I am a senior and have been reading these books to give me a lift during Covid. I give them such a laugh. They give me such a laugh. He was brilliant and it is a blessing to be able to purchase his comic strips. When I was younger, I enjoyed when I was younger and still enjoyed when I was 79 years old.

We love Calvin and Hobbes! The book was great, but it should be noted that every comic is black- and- white. We have other Calvin and Hobbes books that are also in full color, but this one is not one of them.
