   Classic Story!
My 2 year old loves this story and we read it often. The story is about a peddler who walks through town with all the caps on his head trying to sell them. Since no one was buying them, he took a nap by a tree, only to discover that a bunch of mischievous monkeys had taken them and imitated his angry actions. We act it out, the stamping, fist shaking and tsk tsk sound, which makes it really fun to read. My daughter loves to predict what the monkeys will do next, and I really like the rhythmic patterns to the story and the predictability of it. My daughter loves to predict what the monkeys will next. The illustrations are vintage and simple, which I really like because it's such a different style from all newer children's books. I also use this book in my second year class to recognize story elements and we act it out as well. Highly recommended and it's a classic!

Good intro to a classic story for grab-happy kids, but I miss the original full version
I love this story and this little board book got my son hooked as well, but as others have mentioned, it is abridged and lacks some of the familiar rhythms that makes the original story so great. When my son stops trying to tear paper pages apart, we will definitely switch to the original version.

Caps...caps for sale...50 cents a cap! Never gets old, does it?
I still remember Captain Kangaroo reading this book on his morning show for the first time when I was five years old. I have NEVER forgotten that and have introduced this book to all my children and now my grandchildren. It is one of my all-time favorite books and is meant to read aloud, with full voice drama and hand motions... Caps... caps for sale...50 cents a cap...

A Classic in our house! Read over and over.
We love this book. We love it. It is probably in the top 25 and we have 150+ books. My kids like lots of books so that, in my opinion, a good book is when I am excited to read it to them, and this is one of them. My children like to imitate what the man and the monkeys do in the book and that really keeps them coming back to this book again and again. So glad we found this one! !

I have read this book since it was first introduced to me in the elementary school! I bought it and told my grandchildren how great a book this is and how I came to love it. Then fell in love with it and I always want to read it over and over again to them! Love classic books :

Great Book & Even Greater Time Spent w/ My Daughter
There are few things as interesting as reading a fun and interesting book with your kiddo. This book is a classic that I remember from my childhood and I am grateful to share it now with my daughter. She read it to me and was some of the sweetest time we spent together. Nostalgia from my childhood paired excitement for her and the potential in front of her filled my heart as we sat in the lamplight enjoying this classic together.

   Timeless Tale
Our granddaughter lives on the other side of the country, so that nighttime stories are read on FaceTime. This book, which was a favorite of mine when they were little, has become her favorite. Every night she read two stories and this is always the first one she chooses. She continues gleefully at the antics of the monkeys and she giggles as we read the sentences. The story is precious and we get such pleasure out of seeing it through the eyes of our granddaughter. I highly recommend '' this book.

   Upside down book!..
The book was put together upside down. My grandkids thought it was cool and funny, but come on. I am disappointed!

   Wonderful Children's Book!!!!
I used to read this over and over to my children. They loved shaking the monkey sounds and doing my fist like the cap maker like. The colors are beautifully muted and I don 't know a child who doesn 't like this story. I bought a copy for my granddaughter and she loves it too! A great addition to any book collection of children!

   Story is abridged...vocabulary lost
I LOVE this story and it is fun to read aloud as it invites listeners to join in as the peddler calls Caps for sale! You certainly still get the gist of the story, but some wonderful vocabulary is lost with this shortened board book version. Bummer is a German film director.
