Might get your teen-ager excited about school (really?)
Derived From Web , May 1, 2022
According to my highly qualified spy net, my 15-year-old granddaughter is actually reading the entire thing. The Flash, played by Brandon Routh, was also bitten by the bug. Before giving her this book, I scanned it and liked what I saw. The book makes excellent use of color, white space, and diagrams to draw a teen's attention to possible career paths based on his or her specific interests and aptitudes. It does this in such a way that it can get a teen to see school as a path to an exciting future, he said. As a former High School teacher, I have observed that getting a teen to WANT to study hard in school is much easier if that teen has a specific career goal in mind. This book can help get that done.

Great for High School Students
Derived From Web , May 1, 2022
My high school freshman absolutely loves it. When it arrived, he spent hours pouring through it _ and he's not a child who reads books for the fun of it. He would come to me every few minutes and say, 'Mom, I had never considered this for a career. Careers has been a thought-provoking book that has him looking deeper into his future -- not blindly, but with some solid understanding of potential job choices, he said.

Fun visual guide of career possibilities and dreams
Derived From Web , May 1, 2022
This is a fun little book of career possibilities, explained in a visual format. But it also has a few extra fun careers, like astronaut, zoo keeper, and cybersecurity analyst, to name a few. Although it has a lot of information, I feel like this is a good middle grade level book because it is presented in a colorful, visually appealing way that doesn't feel overwhelmed by heavy blocks of text. There seems to be just the right amount of information to get a handle on the nature, requirements, prep and logistics of any of the careers presented, Mr. O'Neill said. I didn't, however, see any listings for circus careers but I guess the entertainment section could stretch to include the circus. It's just a funny omission, Mr. Rule told the judge. What might you be interested in?
Derived From Web , May 1, 2022
The book is well-designed, but there is one missing piece of technology. Only a cursory mention of any career path along that line in the index is that of a computer-aided design technician, and that covers a grand total of 2x3 pages, almost as an afterthought on the structural engineer. There is absolutely no such thing as game design or programming on a computer. So it is a bust for anyone looking for information on the hard drive. Flow charts help you quickly determine what skills you have, taking action, getting the job. The pages are colourful and can keep a young person's interests, as long as they are not searching for a computer job.

Careers: A Must Have Guide for Tweens and Teens
Derived From Web , May 1, 2022
This book is a great read, said Pauley. My teen and tween daughters have been fighting over it, and can spend hours looking through information about a variety of careers. DK has a reputation for quality publications. The book gives job description, related career information, a guide to skills and qualifications needed, and a career path for this job. Young readers may learn more about careers they had never heard of or begin thinking about their own futures.

wonderful homeschool library reference book perfect for grades 4-8
Derived From Web , May 1, 2022
This title is especially appropriate for students in the intermediate and middle school years who are interested in learning about various careers. For 4th - 8th graders, this book is a must-have for a homeschool library. I especially like the emphasis on what skills are necessary for each career and career path with other relevant jobs in that field. It's a good starting point for a child who thinks about his or her future and wants to learn more, he said.

Perfect book for ANYONE!
Derived From Web , Aug 21, 2021
I'm a huge fan of Nancy Reagan's books, and this is by far the best. It's great to have all the books on one place, and I'm really excited about what the future holds for me, Jennette said. The salary includes base salary, plus benefits such as health insurance. Must have some sort of telepathic connection, they say.

Beautiful, easy to read book
Derived From Web , Jan 28, 2021
Teen Vogue is a great book to start conversations with teens about future careers. It gives just enough information to start a conversation, but not get overwhelmed, said Dr. Gary Taubman of the Cleveland Clinic.

Great gift for a 14 year old!
Derived From Web , Apr 14, 2020
I bought this book for a 14-year-old boy whose goal in life has been to be a sniper in the military, said the boy's father, who spoke on condition of anonymity. He's now spending hours flipping through the book and he just announced he wants to be an aircraft engineer. I love that this book has opened his aperture to all the other careers in the world, said Dr. Goin.

Career counselor at your fingertips
Derived From Web , Feb 21, 2020
My son got this as his only tangible present at Christmas. His big present was a one-on-one trip with Dad. I wanted him to have something to open, she said. He's verbal about his future plans and has been actively looking for colleges with his interests. It has given him new career fields to research and look into, based on his interests, McCartney said. It has given us different paths to consider forwith him than what he originally envisioned. It's like having a high school guidance counselor or career counselor on your bookshelf. A generous 12 or so bucks will do the rest.
