I got the book because my grandsons love cats and I didn't know about the Catwings. We read it all in one sitting and the boys listened and wanted more, which will get the others in the series. The boys are small. Recommended even if you don't like cats. The writing reminds me of Beatrix Potter.

Gentle Story with Cute Illustrations - Perfect for Primary School Readers
Derived From Web , Feb 8, 2022
Four kittens with special abilities and challenges are the focus of Catwings. It teaches positive values and has a happy ending. The kittens refer to adult humans as hands, which is a challenge for little readers. This is related to the examination of perception featured in her literary fiction. The illustrations make the book easy to read. It is ideal for Primary School- aged readers. A variety of wild animals are depicted in the narrative. The flying- cat was explored in Rocannon's World, Le Guin's first published novel, as a windsteed. You will find yourself ordering all four books in the series if you buy Catwings by yourself. They are all fairly priced.

best chapter book for older preschool and kindergartners
Derived From Web , Feb 8, 2022
When people ask me about chapter books for young children or very early readers, I recommend this first. It is sweet and amazing. When I was teaching kindergarten, I used to call my kids in early from recess to read a chapter from Catwings at every story time, as they took more time to read than picture books. The kids dropped everything to run for the door so they wouldn't miss anything. My kid prefers the Henry and Mudge series for chapter books, even though he might appreciate it. Catwings is right for 4- adults.

Lov the book
Derived From Web , Oct 14, 2021
The book was very good. The shipper did not do a good job. The package was ripped and the book was wrinkled and twisted. It is supposed to be a present. How do I explain that my granddaughter's book looks like it was used as a shoe cleaner? Not good.

Read it to a small child or if you're a Le Guin completist
Derived From Web , Oct 5, 2019
I didn't know Ursula Le Guin wrote for kids. There is a book about a litter of flying kittens. There is no explanation for why they were born with their wings. It is suitable to be read to young children. The page images in the edition make it hard to read on a phone. The pictures match the story's mood very well.

A beautiful children's tale!
Derived From Web , May 11, 2019
Ursula Le Guin writes in a variety of genres. I' ve never read a story like this before. She starts with a very original premise and then just tells the story as if cats with wings are normal. It's perfect for a parent or teacher to read it to a small child because it's short and engaging. It would enthrall older readers who can read themselves. It was a pleasure to read for this 70 year- old reader.
