   Not for the experienced cook.
Based on the reviews, I purchased this book. It is obvious to me that high reviews are based on the author's popularity and not the contents of the book or recipes. After a review, it is quite juvenile in the spectrum of the cooking. There is not a dish or a recipe that I choose to cook. I am a school teacher of Rick Bayliss or other chefs. I had to post my review to rate...I would not have given a star.
   May have incomplete recipes
This book is beautiful . We believe that we need to blend with the Sargas and the Matillos so that we can do this. Someone should really reread their recipes before approving this book.
   Only cook book that is actually on my kitchen counter
I have tried most recipes from this book of cooks and I love them all so far. Each has been a home run. Even the delicious meals are freaking vegetarian. I use this book so much that I keep it in my kitchen on a book stand so that it is easy to refer. It has adapted my current family recipes and added a modern touch to others. The photos of the food make me cry almost ; they remind me of home. Traditionally, Mexican food was served on a Styrofoam plate on a fruit-printed mantel. I look forward to the next book.
   This is absolutely essential
I came across this cookbook and it's author on Instagram. After seeing the photos for the potato tacos, I had to make a copy and grab one for myself... and I am so glad I did. The salsas, potato tacos, and coconut Horchata have quickly become household favorites and are remade weekly.
   Recipes you’ll want to make again & again
When Smitten Kitchen published a recipe for a Chicano Eats cake from the cookbook ChocoFlan, I immediately had to try it. And when the author, Esteban Castillo, liked and commented on my post, I knew that I had to try all the other recipes as well. From the bright and colorful cover to the appetizing photographs and the personal stories accompanying each recipe it is completely delightful. I went straight to the dessert section, finding the traditional Flan, as well as new recipes like a Mosaic Gelatin dessert. The cocktails look great and give unique ideas for presentation. Not only are practical, accessible recipes, but also a joy to read.
The book itself is beautiful and, when reading it, feels so personal. There are a wide array of recipes, so you will find something you LOVE regardless of your diet restrictions or preferences!

This is the first cooking book I ever bought and I couldn t be happier with it! @chicanoeats not only has beautiful recipes that take me to my mother's home cooking, but is also a collection of simple and delicious photos and colors, I can not stop flipping through it.

I was anticipating the release of this cookbook and was so excited to receive it! The recipes have a traditional flare on modern dishes that reminds me of the food that my abuelita makes. It is so nice to be able to make posole without having to guess how much “un poquito” and como to veas que est bien '' means. The desserts look delicious and I can 't wait to work my way through all the recipes.
