The classics with all the unPC violence and grisly intact, just like when we were children. Instinctly refreshing, the original source was unisneyfied. THe illustrations are large and fabulous. This is the book of the fairy tales to buy. I give it out at all baby showers.

The stories are wonderful and the pictures are delightful. I thought the stories were well read and were easy to understand for a five-year-old.

Kindle Version

It is worth it as a long term investment... Beautiful illustrations and stories to read to your children... It works well on the Android app, but does not display properly on the following platforms : iPad, Cloud Reader, Windows 8 Reader. Within each paragraph the text is printed on top of each other like it performs a 14 space line feed. It overlaps even in zoom mode, making it impossible to read. Note that there are two different volumes as two different items for purchase on Amazon. com.

Ships to Germany!

G. K. Chesterton said, Fairy tales do not tell children that dragons exist. Fortunately, children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children that dragons can be killed. I have given this book several times as a gift. I love the artwork... and so does my granddaughter, a newly resident of Germany, and longing for an English fairy tale book. I was delighted to be able to send it to her.

The End of a Long Search
Derived From Web , Dec 1, 2021
As an avid lover of fairy tales and very familiar with the originals, I wanted to find a nice collection for a small niece of mine. I was looking for something with real art, but art that would also interest and would be appropriate for a child. I did not want Disney - fairy tales. The illustrations are beautiful and quite child-appropriate. But the language is just enough for clarity to a young listener, and the grislier or more adult details are tactfully omitted or glossed.

The text is doubled and unreadable!!!
Derived From Web , Dec 1, 2021
I can not get the book to open on any devices without the line being squished and doubled together. Then it was absolutely unreadable. And I didn't find it in time, can't help Amazon resolve the tech part of this problem, so that I'm stuck with it now. I am really disappointed that I bought it to share in class with students, but didn 't open until too late to return.

We enjoy the stories every night
Derived From Web , Sep 18, 2020
It is hard to find those child bedtime stories that have an equal amount of length of words, good developing vocabulary to inspire your children's conversations, and beautiful illustrations are so complementary. I have bought the rest of the trilogy because of it and how my children respond.
