A Modern Classic

So happy that this book is still being printed! ) This was my absolute favorite book as a child. The story line is unique and original, does not talk down to a child's level and so very enjoyable to read by adults also. However, it is the illustrations that truly make this book a true treasure. Each page is filled from edge to edge with the most detailed illustrations in an artistic crosshatch style. ( You can tell that true passion was given to this book when it was written back in the 1970s! )

Great Imaggination
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
First of all, I was amazed by Judy Barrett's imagination. I read that the Israelites ate Manna in the desert for 40 years, but left over manna melted at the end of the day. The author describes a small town with only 300 people, plus dogs and cats, that has no snow or rain. Instead, juice or mashed poetess fall from the sky!! What if hamburgers, soup, cheese, and so on really came from the sky three times a day? This is a super unique idea of a unique kind. People could just bring plates or cups and receive food or soup from the sky. But the department of sanitation would have a lot of work to do. But is this really a good way to eat food? But is this really a good way to get food? '' I couldn 't stop laughing at Ron Barrett's illustrations. Judi and Ron Barrett thank you. The book has sold one million copies. I understand why ''. This winter I am going to buy this book for Christmas gifts this winter.

Still as silly as I remember...
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
A few months ago, we checked out this classic from our local library. I read it to my four year old and 2.5 year old before bed. My 2.5 year old was still asking about it months later, so I bought him a copy for Christmas. He loves spouting over the illustrations and laughing about all the silly details contained within each. I thought the story line might be a little over his head, but he loves it.

I bought this book for my niece because I remembered reading it when I was little. I LOVED it when I was a kid and what surprised me most when I opened the book and read it down, of Corse, it took me a few minutes to read it, but I seriously considered keeping it for myself. After all these years, I can 't believe that I still love it. It is a true classic!

My daughter and her husband have their first baby, their first baby. In lieu of cards, the baby shower hostesses requested books for the baby. This story was one of my favorite books as a child and I was very happy to receive it as a gift for her baby.

Misprint
Derived From Web , Feb 28, 2021
My book came printed backwards... If you open the book correctly, the pages are upside down and start at the end of the book. You have to start reading reading by flipping the book upside down and opening from the back. This was not part of the description and had not been discounted. We love the story, but for little readers who are also learning how to use a book, this is a bit... backwards. However, I would highly recommend the story itself. My 4 year old son adores this story so much that we had to buy a copy to keep at home.
