The book includes real essays by real writers, although the author says they are fiction. In his book, Nelson looks at pros and cons of each one and how they apply to college admissions. It's great to be back home, said Dr. Steve Bazzi, director of the NIH's Center for Molecular and Cellular Immunology. Easy to apply, Weber said. This book is very well written and I would recommend it to others.

The book was bought for my son, who is a rising senior and is starting to craft his Common App essay and fill out his college applications. In the classroom, he was anxious, not knowing where to begin. The book is so clear, is full of great exercises to help college applicants from all backgrounds and with all manner of life experiences write from their hearts with confidence and craft essays that are excellent in both structure and content. My son's stress level has subsided considerably, and he's having a good time, too. Thank you, Mr. Sawyer.

I will be teaching the college essay this year. This book is intended for individual use, but the suggestions and activities can be accomplished in a class. The brainstorming activites will be useful, but my students will need more support through the revising process. 5 stars, if the author created a teacher's version with some reproducibles. The sample essays are 6,390 words, compared to the 2,171-word outline of the book.
