A go-to acrylic technique book worth keeping open when painting.
While browsing online through some art collections and current exhibits in London museums and public galleries, I clicked on Store in each site to see what was available, said Gillian Kent, spokeswoman for the British Library. Only a book on acrylic techniques was listed for sale at that store. Just dropped in here and read all the reviews, I must have missed something. I went elsewhere on the Web and read more reviews. Then I came back to Amazon and bought it. Over the last few months, I have consulted it as often, if not more often, than the other handful of technique books I keep handy while painting. If you are like me and don't want to take the time to experiment with different materials, this book should be added to your reference library.
   Techniques Galor
This is a great resource for beginners. Only a handful of books have been written by artists who could put pen to paper. Each topic is divided into two sections, each with a maximum of four pages. Each volume includes colorful photos and brief text by the author.
   Great book!
I need help with this. I learned a lot from this book. Also, watched videos about acrylic painting. Never thought I could paint a decent sunset. Acrylic and Acrylic paint are my go-to mediums.
Good beginner book about painting, not so much "techniques"
Despite the book's title, it doesn't cover everything, including putting paint on canvas. I was hoping for information on techniques such as one-stroke painting, dry brushing, and impatto, among others. I'd like to have a range of approaches for creating effects in acrylics. Instead of a book about general painting knowledge, it's a book about how to use the grid method, the color wheel, mixing dark into light, composition and how to create and maintain a palette. Good information if you don't know it. But it doesn't include acrylics, and there isn't much about methods if you already know the basics. Before you can read the rest of the book, you must first read the annex.
   Clearly written and illustrated, PERFECT!
I've been looking forward to this book FOREVER. My formal art training was more than fifty years ago when acrylics were in its infancy and instruction was primarily concerned with water and oil. Now I can finally spend my time painting, Mr. D'Antonio said. And although I've dabbled with acrylics, I'm still not exactly sure what to do with them, and I need some nuts and bolts help with some basic questions concerning oil and water painting. This book was perfect and touched on some of the general basics of painting, Bruno said. It is simply written with everything necessary to present the entire story in clear pictures. Just got the book today and read some of the answers to some of my earlier problems.
   Outstanding book!!!
Ok, I have to say this book is outstanding. It helps with the basics of ballroom dancing. The price of the book was reasonable, and the illustrations were also very colorful, Mr. Dhaliwal said. It's worth the buy, Mr. D.S.L. It's great to be back home, said Blair.
Ehhh... Despite all the glowing reviews... It was just okay.
It's a good book, but I'd give it five stars. While there were some complaints about the new car, Mr. Caramore said, "there were some very good people who were driving it." I knew them all by watching videos on YouTube. I just started with acrylics about three weeks ago, said Jennette Tamayo, assistant professor at the Pratt Institute in California. I didn't feel like this book was super helpful. 0 2622010 2622070 2622070 This book is great, but I didn't feel like this was super helpful. Before you paint, you must have painted at least one other thing. If you want to learn more about this book, I would recommend looking for other books and tutorials.
Previously published under a different title!
This is a great book, however it was previously published by Reader's Digest under the title Acrylic Secrets Tips 300 and Techniques For Painting the Easy Way by Gill Barron. I'm not a huge fan of re-releasing a book under a new name. I buy a lot of books and don't always read them right away, and I've been known to make the mistake of buying a book twice because it has another name from the original and I didn't recognize the pictures in it. The book, which was originally published in 1974 by Alfred Hitchcock's widow, Ethel, is also a re-release with the new title Watercolor Secrets. Once in a blue moon they might note that publishers on the info page, but not always. Annoying.
My forist book and my best choice for it!
Now into my forth month of learning to paint, this book was my first one on how to properly apply paint. This little book has so many tips and suggestions that I incorporated as soon as i read about them that I am having a great time painting with knowledge now, Ms. O'Neill said. From materials needed to tip on form, to colors, to anything to do with painting, we have it all. This manual will give you everything you need to know about acrylic painting.
