Book Overview

Endorsed by EWTN hosts Fr. Mitch Pacwa, SJ, and Fr. Benedict Groeschel, CFR, this do-it-yourself retreat combines the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius with the teachings of Sts. Therese of Lisieux, Faustina Kowlaska, and Louis de Montfort. The author, Br. Michael Gaitley, MIC, has a remarkable gift for inspiring little souls to trust in Jesus, The Divine Mercy. As Danielle Bean, editorial director of Faith & Family magazine, puts it, The voice of Christ in these pages is one that even this hopelessly distracted wife and mother of eight could hear and respond to. Includes practical helps an in appendices.

   Consoling the Heart of Jesus
It is a wonderful book that helps illuminate how we can use the sufferings of this life to console the heart of Christ. It gives accounts of the great saints who followed Christ's footsteps on the cross. It is a great tool to grow up in Holiness.

This book touches your heart really. When you realize how much Jesus suffered for us, it makes you want to console His heart throughout the day, and fills you with compassion for what Jesus went through to save us all.

   Interesting and calming read
It is a great read so far. When reading religious education, it is sometimes easy to lose, it is very easy to understand in the words used. It is really a great book on how to live in our daily lives more like Christ.

   Loved it
This book has changed my life in some ways and I have given copies to friends and also a priest friend. I can 't say that I loved the first parts entirely, but when I got to the part about Divine Mercy and St. Faustina, I was hooked. I went from this beautiful book to the entire diary of St. Faustina and love the DM Chaplet and all DM teachings.

for many but not for everyone
I tried this retreat and put the book down after 3 days so that I could use my time better, which was limited for the retreat. The author is in earnest to help readers reach their goal, but if you assimilated a lot of classics and really read graces from them, then this might not be as helpful. I offer only my own experience and what can be inferred from it.

Oh little soul, Jesus loves you!!
This book has changed my life. It has changed my husband's life. Most importantly, this book helps you realize that Jesus loves you as you are, and wants you to not be afraid of Him, even though you are little and sinful and full of errors, because it makes Him happy to be your Savior!

I don 't usually like devotional or retreat books, because they are always so superficial and don 't really challenge me. This book is AMAZING! No matter where you are in your faith journey, this book gives you a lot to chew. You'll get what you put into it, but this book really sets you to deepen your walk with Christ.
