Book Overview

A New York Times Bestseller

A group of clever animals find an unusual but warm and furry home during Alaska's long winter in Jan Brett's newest snowy adventure.

Cozy is the softest musk ox in Alaska, with the warmest fur you ever did feel. When a storm hits while he's separated from his family, he starts to feel lonely--but not for long. As the snow piles up, animals start to notice just how warm and cozy Cozy really is One mama lemming has a bright idea . . . maybe the best place to spend the winter is under Cozy's fur

As more and more animals burrow in, Cozy adds to the house rules: quiet voices, gentle thumping, claws to yourself, no biting, and no pouncing. That seems easy enough . . . until the lemmings, snowshoe hare, snowy owl, arctic fox, and wolverine begin to bicker. Luckily, signs of spring soon appear, and that means Cozy can find his herd and his new friends can head to their summer homes. But not before promising to get cozy with Cozy next year

Jan Brett brings a new lovable character to life through this gorgeous tale of sharing, friendship, and living in harmony.

   Beautiful, fun, educational
I bought this book several times and I absolutely love it. It is a beautiful story, great paintings and doesn 't pretend that all animals get along, which is important. It is a great book, but also a good intro to education into certain topics as children grow older : northern lights, Alaskan native animals, English and Alaskan native names for Cozy, ice, Arctic Sun, etc.

   beautiful illustrations
I love a good Jan Brett book, but they get the same theme. The illustrations are usual as beautiful and children can learn a little bit about musk oxen.

   Jan Brett Again
This book familiarizes me with some rather strange animals. I like to know for other readers about them.

   Beautiful Illustration
I find this author's work is beautiful, but is hard to focus on a very young child's level, as the illustration is so complicated. I love it far more than my grandchild ''. They will hopefully grow into it. The message is fantastic.

   Charming, beautiful, fun read-aloud
There are only a few books in my extensive library that make me smile when I see it, and in the words of Mari Kondo, “ Spark Joy ”. For sure, this is one of them. My 4 year old and 2 year old love it.

   Another gem from Jan Brett...
I bought this book for my grandson and my great niece. As a fan of Jan Brett's illustrations and stories, I want to continue to promote her beautiful books to another generation of readers. Parents can read the books to their children who are early readers. Wonderful topics are to be learned lessons.

   An Instant Classic
Cozy does not have the humor of some of Jan Brett's most popular picture books, such as The Mitten. But it is a super hardy for our super fable times. Predators and prey cooperate to survive a harsh time and climate. The arctic animals he protects during a very difficult time contribute to a beautifully rendered story for our time of COVID-19 pandemic. As always, Brett's art is the most inviting. Her trademark - side panels provide further knowledge about characters.

   Love,love, love this book
I love all Jan Brett books, but this one is really special to me. We visited the Musk Ox Farm in Palmer, Alaska with our own horses and fell in love with the majestic beasts. We follow them on Instagram and on Facebook. I love Jan's humble stories, always full of kindness, which we need so much these days. The illustrations are so rich and detailed that you have to look hard to see all the little hidden gems. Thank you for a new wonderful story! I've always loved this place!
