In a special section, Claudia covers basic texturing techniques with mini demos using lines, dots, bruising, scribbling, spattering, blotting, printing, stamping and more. From paints and pens to sponges, leaves and facial tissue, you'll explore all kinds of fun and inventive ways to create amazing textures.

And to help you put it all together, Claudia includes her masterful advice for creating compositions using reference photos, field sketches and your own creative license. Each demonstration features a large image of the completed landscape, so you can see exactly how Claudia's methods work - from start to finish.

Like all of Claudia Nice's books on pen and watercolor
Like all Claudia Nice books on pen and watercolor, this is jam packed with beautiful techniques explained and demonstrated well. She has many illustrations and the text is concise and effective in their beautiful calligraphy. Her books are both great direction and wonderful works of art. Some of her tools are a bit fiddly, I use the disposable Pigma Micron pens instead of touchy rapidograph technical pens and settle for the colors they come in rather than load in watercolor, but is a great mistress of pen work. Also dip pens like a crowquill are a way of using rapidographs loaded with watercolor.

   All You Need
Yes, the title says landscapes, ink, pen and watercolor, but you could apply the techniques in this book to just about anything. It has a huge sample of textures and how to obtain them. Since I am a beginner, I've thought that the techniques would be difficult to understand, but the directions are incredibly simple to learn and not all of the techniques are time-consuming. Put this book together with Gordon MacKenzie's The Watercolorists Essential Notebook and you have a high-level of watercolor art class through at least intermediate to lower advanced skill level. The images and text are simple to understand and provide a great reference. After a while, I find the script a little difficult to read, but otherwise a very well rounded book with easy to follow quick techniques that really knocks your socks off. Claudia : Way to go!

   like the content
The pictures are fuzzy and are enlarged when small. I love the content, but wish it was a sharp image. I use a I pad so that it is not me.

   interesting
I haven 't had time to really get into it, but by going through the book she gives you some interesting techniques. I have not done much in the way of watercolor and ink.

   Title misleading
Normally, I like her books on pen and ink, but this one has more to do with watercolor than pen and ink. It is a good book to look at and you might be more interested if you want to know more about how to use watercolors. I have enough of these books!
