I was so engrossed in the books that I couldn't stop except to sleep and eat and take my dog for a walk. I love this character. Kathleen is very funny. I love that she has cats. The stories are very fascinating. When I was in school, she worked in the library and I used to help put books back on the shelves. I like the smell of books and online reading is not the same. I'm impressed with the variety of characters in the stories. The stories are educational. As I go along I learn tidbits. Diesel and his owner are a librarians. There is more than enough room in the world for more than 2 perfect series where one or more of the main characters are cats or dogs. As I await the most recent book to be published, I will write more.

A Wonderful Cat Cozy
Derived From Web , Feb 8, 2022
What a great book! This is the first book in the series. It is lovely. Kathleen is moving to Mayville, Minnesota to take a job as head librarian for the library. Two cats, Hercules and Owen, adopt her. It doesn't take long for Kathleen to discover that the cats have powers. Kathleen went on the hunt for the killer with the help of her two cats. There is a delightful way with prose bySophie Kelly. It's almost impossible to put the book down because of the lilting, almost melodic nature of her writing. Ms. Kelly's treatment of the cats is exceptional. She spends a lot of time observing cats and their habits, and she is the only cat mystery author that I think feels the same way I do about my cats. A great place for cat lovers.

Love this series!
Derived From Web , Dec 15, 2020
A friend gave me four of Ms. Kelly's cat mysteries and they were wonderful. The first book in the series is the best. The reader is shown how Kathleen learns about Owen and Hercules. It's funny. Kathleen's conversations are with many humans. The mystery of the death of an obnoxious guest conductor at Mayville's festival is structured well and the outcome involves a split conclusion. Well- plotted, and with a flair for witty dialogue, this is a how- to for writing an excellent mystery. My cats would approve. Highly recommendable!

Purr-fectly Cozy Tail
Derived From Web , Sep 12, 2018
If you enjoy cats, love a mystery, and want the tale to be light and fast, then this is a great read for you. The likable characters make their behavior interesting in the story line. The cats are not boring. Through the plot line, the romance is threaded. The ability of the hero to gather info and understand what it might be telling her without making the professional detective look like a dolt was something I liked.

Decent Cozy Mystery
Derived From Web , Jul 14, 2017
The suspension of disbelief was needed more than usual. Cats with powers! There was enough character development, and the plot was reasonable. The story involves very high- minded people who are well able to pass righteous judgment on others while living their unmarred lives, and never using bad language. The red herrings, martyrs, and predictable romance are all featured. It's standard fare for the genre in this type of book.

Oh what people get up to in small towns!
Derived From Web , Jun 27, 2017
I enjoy reading cozy mysteries. The idea of living in a small town has given me a love hate relationship with them. The point of the story is that people's lives are more complex than we can know. A young woman with hopes and dreams was once down the block. The hero of this story cannot wait for the police to do their job. She follows up on her hunches and suspicions because of her care for her friends and neighbors. Her honesty and good humor don't prepare her for the dangers of snooping. Throw in a couple of magical cats and a handsome, single detective and you have the recipe for a satisfying read.

very funny book
Derived From Web , Jan 17, 2017
I started the first 20 pages of the book and have laughed out loud at least 10 times already. I have a cat, Shadow, who is the latest in a long line of rescue cats, and I swear she beams out of an alternate universe. The next three will be in the Magical Cats series.
