The smash New York Times bestselling author continues the chilling tale begun in Kiss of the Bees and Hour of the Hunter with this shocking new tale of knife-edge suspense

The Walker family survived the atrocities perpetrated by a serial killer and his crazed acolyte in both Hour of the Hunter and Kiss of the Bees. But can they escape the vengeance of a new enemy whose target is their precious daughter, Lani?

Told they're traveling to a loving adoptive family in southern Arizona, young girls are being spirited away from an orphanage deep in Colonial Mexico. But the fate that awaits them is truly horrifying. And when death comes, it will be a blessing.

Former Sheriff Brandon Walker is a reluctant retiree. Golf just can't replace the action and sense of purpose his job provided. When he's invited to join The Last Chance Club to review and long-cold unsolved cases, he has no idea that the first case to cross his path will be one he may have botched as a young sheriff. And when the case from all those decades past becomes entangled with a current murder, it seems a serial killer with a very long and shocking track record may be back in business . . .

   Wish it was bigger.
The book is small but the pictures are good. The small size makes it unsuitable to read to a group of kids.
   Beautiful and fun book
I read this book to an 8 year old today and he liked it very much. He was interested in learning about the holiday as his family is Mexican American, but he was reading it himself. The illustrations are very artistic. I recommend that you encourage children who read this to look at the illustrations and pictures and to imagine the families of the village walking at night to the cemetery to celebrate this holiday. I also brought a coloring book with me. Nov 1-2 is the Day of the Dead.
Great book to introduce grade schoolers to Day of The Dead
I used this in second and fourth grade classrooms to teach Day of the Dead. The book and illustrations were enjoyed by the kids. This will be a part of my career in the future.
   Great illustrations!
The illustrations in this book are striking. Kid friendly. I am used to the book being larger.
   small but cute
The book was good. My students liked the pictures and words in the small book. It was interesting to learn about the holiday.
   Dia de los muertos
The book is one of my favorites. The culture and traditions of Dia de los Muertos are captured in the book.
   Good book
My son used this book for his class project. It was a good story about families preparing for and celebrating the Day of the Dead, and the book had nice, colorful pictures.
