My son asked me to read this book to him before he fell asleep that night, and I can see why he loves this series so much. He had already read this book once, and wanted to hear it again, and I don 't blame him. My son can also take this book that he has read at home to use his AR quizzes at school. Learning and having fun while doing it. I love that even though it is a chapter book, the book still has funny illustrations to help the imagination a bit. I remember the hating of having to read books without pictures so that this is a wonderful mix of both worlds. Highly recommended. My son loves the whole series... Bought here on Amazon.

Notebook of Doom is great!
Derived From Web , May 21, 2022
Grades 1-4 This book has a reluctant reader appeal and also has a huge boy appeal. The pages contain black and white text, mixed with black and white illustrations. The story line shifts quickly and children will enjoy this new series about a boy Alexander who moved to a new town where there are monsters. In the first book, he had to fight the balloon goons. In this book it is a tunnel fish. I like this series because I think it fills a great gap in books for boys who feel like they are done with picture books, but don't really have the sustenance to get through a 200-page chapter book on their own. The series does not look babyish and says on the back reading level grade 2. The next book in the series is called the notebook of the doom attack of the shadow slashers.

Fantastic early reader book series!
Derived From Web , May 21, 2022
If you haven 't started your children on this series, you should really start! Fun stories that are just long enough to capture even the most idiosy child's attention, and they're a wonderful way to get children to love the concept of a book series!

Great Series for my Boy

My son started reading these in the second grade. So gross and not like Captain Underpants, but still a little bit of cute stuff and wit that kids like.

Doesn't take full advantage of Kindle features
Derived From Web , May 21, 2022
My son enjoys this book, but the problem I have with it is that it does not have all the features on the Kindle that it should. There is no way to select a page or to bookmark a word and get the dictionary definition. For someone who is trying to improve their reading skills, not having these features available takes away some of the potential.
