fine for practice
Derived From Web , May 30, 2022
It is slender and lots of practice and difficulty degree is not linear or progressive. My eldest, however, has learned his decimals and fractions of the old fashioned way and this is one of the stanchions that support this way. He comes in second grade only and it is easy to come. It would seem that this is too mechanically boring for a true fifth grader. i'd recommend it for ambitious younger kids, so it's challenging and you learn something. Not for your average 5th grader.

Pretty much worthless
Derived From Web , Jun 13, 2020
This book has a fun cover, but is literally a bunch of black and white pages with the most simple form of banal math problems with hardly any explanations how to do them, to boot. I don 't know why anybody would ever pay for something like this.

Fractions not "aligned to state math standards"
Derived From Web , Sep 16, 2017
Unlike most Kumon Math workbooks, this book is not aligned with the recommended math standards in Common Core. This book in particular continues to work with fractions of like denominators from the book Grade 4 fractions and fractions, and includes no work on adding or dividing fractions, only on adding and subtracting. Kumon should include a second fifth edition of the book fractions, which covers the addition and subtraction of fractions with unlike denominators and covers multiplication and division of fractions.

Great workbook

Great standards of Kumon in this workbook! I use it as part of my homeschool - education curriculum. This can be used for major practice work for additional schooling or for use as a secondary curriculum.
