The truth about demons is far stranger-and even more fascinating-than what's commonly believed.
Are demons real? Are they red creatures with goatees holding pitchforks and sitting on people's shoulders while whispering bad things? Did a third of the angels really rebel with Satan? Are demons and principalities and powers just terms for the same entities, or are they different members of the kingdom of darkness? Is the world a chaotic mess because of what happened in Eden, or is there more to the story of evil? What people believed about evil spiritual forces in ancient biblical times is often very different than what people have been led to believe about them today. And this ancient worldview is missing from most attempts to treat the topic. In Demons, Michael Heiser debunks popular presuppositions about the very real powers of darkness. Rather than traditions, stories, speculations, or myths, Demons is grounded in what ancient people of both the Old and New Testament eras believed about evil spiritual forces and in what the Bible actually says. You'll come away with a sound, biblical understanding of demons, supernatural rebellion, evil spirits, and spiritual warfare. It takes about 5 Hours and 56 minutes on average for a reader to read Demons: What the Bible Really Says about the Powers of Darkness. This is based on the average reading speed of 250 Words per minute.

Nobody has ever asked where the demons come from. Really eye opening, leaves me curious to learn more.

Poorly written book, poor conclusions.

The book is also being widely used by Bible scholars. It is a total mess for anyone else. 0 3171616 This is a total mess for anyone else. This writer is not my cup of tea. Second, I would have chosen a different trainer. It doesn't match the authors' conclusions. 0 3171616 It doesn't match the authors' recommendations. Even if you have read the book, I would not recommend it to anyone.

Important and interesting but poorly written
Derived From Web , Aug 16, 2020
I've read Heiser's most important books, The Unseen Realm, Angels and Demons, and I'm not alone. The other two are worth reading, but the latter is atrocious. There is considerable confusion about terminology and other issues, Raymond said. Like a lot of scholars who have a lot of learning but no imagination when it comes to readers and their questions, heiser said.

Very Insightful and Thought Provoking
Derived From Web , May 19, 2020
Michael Heiser has a knack for helping us regain a supernatural mindset in a postmodern world. I was not really sure what to expect from Philip Heiser's book What the Bible Really Says About the Powers of Darkness, but what I got was so impactful. I always grew up hearing and learning the old ways that people talked about demons, Satan, and the like. It helped me re-think some of my own views on the power of darkness that are at work in the world and taught me a lot about the ancient context and languages. Overall, great read, but definitely one that is a little more technical and would be on the more scholarly side of the spectrum, Raymond said. Don't let that discourage you, he said. I was given the book for free by the publisher and was not required to write a positive review.

Another Gem!

Dr. Heiser's estate has all but written the book. His books and the Naked Bible Podcast helped me understand the Bible more fully. If you're looking for a denominational-specific teaching, we can help. You probably have your world turned upside down when you read Dr. Heiser's work. If you want to learn how to meditate on scripture, you must first learn how to read and write it. Before you buckle up, make sure your seatbelt is properly secured.

Great Scripture based resource.
Derived From Web , May 15, 2020
Just received this book and I'm in the process of reading it. This is the 8th book I have owned by Dr. Heiser and so far it is up to his standards. Heiser doesn't provide you with spiritual shortcuts and expects that his audiance will have and seek Scripture-based knowledge. If you are new to his writings, a good place to start is his website, His Fringepop, his podcast The Naked Bible and his books What Does God Want and Supernatural. Pursuant to the above, I am hereby authorized to execute a forfeiture of such sums of money as may be due to the Government. checkout his books Facade and Portent if you're looking for some interesting and though provocating Sci-fi. Think of it this way: X-files are the Bible. I am looking forward to the next installment, he said.

Highly recommended reading material
Derived From Web , May 15, 2020
It is a great book for reading material and to keep as a reference book in one's library. The book is a parable of the supernatural powers of darkness. It is just any ordinary material and has no relevance to the present day situation, nor has anything similar been presented for laypeople in the past, Rumsfeld said.

Heiser always brings scholarship to his books
Derived From Web , May 15, 2020
This isn't some typical divine interpretation of the universe. He's a serious scholar with all the qualifications and isn't pushing his personal agenda, Hollingworth said. Like some in the comments section, we're not sure if it's true. A good introduction to the book, and Worth a read or two.

The best reference book about the evil forces im the Bible
Derived From Web , May 15, 2020
The fact is, these are the same demons that the Bible says about the evil forces. This report is a thorough study of all the forces that led to World War II. Thanks for the reference.
