Book Overview

From New York Times bestselling authors Shannon Hale and Dean Hale comes a story about making mistakes, learning the hard way, and growing up to become a hero.

Eleven-year-old Diana has an almost perfect life on the island of Themyscira. But even though she has a loving mother and many aunties, she is an only child. The only child on the entire island, in fact. Every other person on the island is an adult who's the best in their trade and mighty in body, while Diana is small, sometimes clumsy, and not particularly good at anything. She's not Wonder Woman.yet.

What Diana needs is someone her own age whom to talk to. Taking matters into her own hands, she creates a playmate out of clay. It's all fun and games for a while, until things get out of control and Diana has to decide whether she's made a new friend.or a monster

   WW for all ages
It requires no deep prior understanding of character, though those with such a background will appreciate it all the more.

   Worth the wait
Shannon Hale is very fond of Hale's books. Bought this title for a great niece who liked the series Princess in Black ''. She was a second grader at the time and it was perfect for her.

   Great find!
It was a birthday present for a 7 year old who said she LOVES this book and wanted more. Unfortunately, this is not part of a series! In content, this is about a young Diana who feels alone on an island where everyone seems to be happily doing their tasks. She creates a statue... which comes to life in her surprise. But this new Bestonly friend isn 't all that great... and causes trouble.

Very cute story and great illustrations
Book Cute : I thought it would be like a comic strip and have a lot of stories, but it read more like a book with comic illustrations.

A graphic novel my 4th and 5th grade students will surely enjoy!
A graphic novel will surely delight my 4th and 5th grade students! Living with the other Amazons on the island, Diana is lonely, but is the only kid being the only one. She creates a friend out of clay and soon she and Mona enjoy their time together. However, readers will pick up the fact that Diana's games and tricks aren 't very nice and soon Mona will be faced with difficult choices that will keep her Amazonian family safe. A graphic novel add to your library of must-have!

   My Kindergartner LOVES It
I caught my six year old past bedtime the other night with a flashlight under the covers reading this book. On the way to the car for school that morning, she grabbed it and read the whole way to school, asking me if she could put her name in it, so that she could take it to class that morning. That's an accomplishment for my kiddo, who sort of likes to read, sees it as a chore... For this book to supplant the brainsOn! She loves the podcast, every morning is amazing. Book is great! I now need to find similar stories...

   Fun and engaging
It was well plotted and very suspenseful. I also liked the drawings. Like another reviewer, I am happy to see a sequel.
