Book Overview

#1 New York Times Bestseller

This hilarious picture book from the bestselling, acclaimed author-illustrator team of Doreen Cronin and Harry Bliss tells the adventures of a worm through his daily diary entries.

This is the diary of a worm. This worm lives with his parents, plays with his friends, and even goes to school. But unlike you or me, he never has to take a bath, he gets to eat his homework, and because he doesn't have legs, he just can't do the hokey pokey--no matter how hard he tries.

   Great for 2nd Grade!
After reading the book, we talk about what we can write in our diariesjournals. The students really enjoy the illustrations and the lyrics. The book also makes them think about what life must be like as an earthworm. This book is great to show what is the imagination all about.

Biology lessons for pre-schoolers? - not! Very funny.
This book was found at the house we visited and read it to my four-year-old granddaughter. We enjoyed it very much, both of us. I found it extremely classical American worm experiencing funny schooling, and my granddaughter found a lot to talk about in the illustrations. Took the opportunity to explain about new stools and fungi in general, while my listener was fascinated by the poisonous word. We found more in other books that are morning-electric : I've discovered that children's stories among trees all feature attractive red stools, the extremely poisonous with the white spots! In fact, I remember the same mushrooms that I read in books I have seen as a child.

   Adorable!
I am a graduate student who bought a unit review around Doreen Cronin's Diary of A Worm and planned to share these with my classmates as a during reading activity that could be done with students. Are they pretty Holy Cannoli? They are really exact replicas of the characters from the books, and although I have not yet done a reading with students using them, I can only imagine how much they would love! They are good puppets and a beautiful size for finger puppets. My only complaint is actually with the company that shipped them. I was quoted a specific shipping date and relied on them to come by then because my speech was the next day. I got them three days later than expected, so I did not use them for class. If you're looking for a great way to keep your child's interest while reading this book, they're a great steal! Here is a great price too!

   Great Skype Material
We read it in a way that may interest you. The books we purchase from children include buying two of the same book. One is shipped to Seattle and the other to our granddaughter in Portland. Then I send her to her on Skype while she follows. She jumps excitedly up and down! As she asks later for a rerun, I know that we have a winner. Diary is a fictional character. The cut was made by.

Spunky Little Worm Who Teaches Too
Simple concept of a worm's diary and is very entertaining, while you also learn some things. Made me smile and I have read several times. This is more about story and entertainment, but there are some funny facts woven into this worm story.

   Terrific Series
My granddaughter fell in love with Diary of A - Spider and so bought Diary of A - Fly and Diary Of A Worm for her birthday so that she could read about two of Spider's best friends in a row so that she could read the wry humor that is so much fun and since she is in first grade, learning self-motivated. You won't be disappointed with any of the books in the series and as an adult you won't mind either reading them to your children.

My daughter loves the series of these books she reads 8 and loves them over and over. She was not a fan of the slip cover, so we just take them off. Overall, so happy with my purchase, great price and quality.
