Good book, but very basic--still very useful
In excessive detail, nothing is explained. One single page per topic. Each page explains the subject in a sentence or two. I use this book to homeschool my 2nd grader. If I wanted to learn more information on the subject we were practicing, I would install something on YouTube. However, I did rely on this book as a good outline of what needed to be taught.

My 2nd grader loves this book
My son loves so much this book. It is pretty simple and very easy to use. But it is a great supplement to second great social studies. He asks to do extra pages, he has so much fun. And it is easy for me to explain to anyone I need.

Solid basic geography for young kids
After looking for geography books for my kindergartener, I came across this series. The kindergarten is very simplistic and for advanced kids a quick job, but becomes quite a challenge by this 2nd grade and I would say effectively graded. They ask you to find what is closest on maps, discuss the oceans and continents, discuss plants and animals, and probably most importantly, advance the previous books on map interpretation questions. Asking you to describe maps where things are, what are the most windy areas and all based on map reading. I am definitely buying the next level. I also have to add that it isn 't super long, but is very good for the price.

   Homeschool geography lessons
Homeschool, part of our social studies is geography for the 2nd grade. Very simple lessons about things you find on a map, globe, etc. cardinal directions, types of land masses, habitats. Easy enough for self-guided for my 7 yr old.

Hard to write in very shiny waxy like paper
We use this to touch base on important geographical topics that we might be missing in my homeschool from our historical approach to geography.

   Lackluster
I purchased 5 DK workbooks and am disappointed with them. I expected more with the reviews. There is a page per topic, with no great detail about it. These seemed promising through the photos. When I try to make a weekly lesson off a single page, it becomes a challenge. I've had to print maps, graphs, vocabulary words, etc. or write a ton of papers on Pinterest. In three weeks, I went through two packs of ink to cover the details that these books do not. Save yourself from the headache and the hassle... pay a few dollars extra for a better book!

It’s ok not bad, child likes it
My son started second grade right now and he enjoys this book. We also do other activities for geography. It's pretty simple, it is not a complete curriculum, not very advanced, but it gives us some structure to our day, so that we at least need to complete 1-2 pages of this per day.

Good for review or supplemental work
I used this workbook to supplement the homeschool geography. Each page has a title, a short review of the subject and a workspace. Vocabulary is easy enough for my children to do this on their own with minimal help. Some activities were too easy, so I had to do extra.

   Great for Homeschool
I used the book DK Workbooks geography, second grade to supplement our social education lessons at home. The 60-page paper topics include map reading, compass directions, continents, countries and states, borders, bodies of water and more. Although it is not as important to me, the book supports the Common Core State Standards. The workbook builds on the skills that I learned in the first edition. My only complaint is that, like all DK workbooks, the pages are glossy and difficult to write on. Thus I ended up copying the glossy pages onto regular paper, so my daughter could use a pencil, marker, or crayon to complete the activities.
