Book Overview

In this interactive children's picture book, microbiologist Idan Ben-Barak and award-winning illustrator Julian Frost zoom in on the microscopic world found on everyday objects--and in our bodies--warning readers Do Not Lick This Book.

Min is a microbe. She is small.
Very small.

In fact, so small that you'd need to look through a microscope to see her. Or you can simply open this book and take Min on an adventure to amazing places she's never seen before--like the icy glaciers of your tooth or the twisted, tangled jungle of your shirt.

Great book to teach kids about germs
This is a fun and informative book to teach young children about germs. I bought this book to use in my nursery, and the children love it. You carry the microbe on an adventure looking closely at germs and how they are distributed. It does a nice job of showing how horrible germs are, but also keeps it cute and silly for young readers to understand and stay engaged, while also allowing for a deeper discussion. I have incorporated this into our science lessons about germs and how they are spread.

   Great explanations and interactive
I am a nurse and I use this book for teaching children in classrooms about germs. With the spread of Coronavirus, it is important to understand how germs spread. This gives great photos of common surfaces and has amazing explanations for germs. I covered certain areas where you touch the spot with clear packing tape to make it easy to use a clean sheet for sanitizing. The book was super fun to read.

Don’t worry - it’s doesn’t instruct children to lick the book
And sends them on a short journey of some super close up photos of ordinary things, like clothing and skin. Three years old likes it.

   It's simultaneously cute and gross
My son loves this book so we bought another as a gift for his cousins. The little ones love spreading the germs all over their bodies and clothing. They will certainly talk about the book after the story ends. As a parent, you 'll be just grossed out.

Cute book - I think I may like it more than my child.
Your child does their hands in washing them? This book helps them understand what are germs and how they are transmitted from one thing to another. I still like the book, but my child really hates washing his hands.

Great little book for our future scientist
My three-year-old daughter has a book on Germs absolutely loves it, so I thought she would love it. I was not let down, she loves reading this book and reading it to her, though it is not overly cute with pictures, it is still a super cute book!

   Title is deceiving...
I bought this book for a friend's kid who just doesn 't get the gross factor of putting his mouth on everything. I thought this book would be a fun way of teaching him what he shouldn 't be and a beautiful way to remind him when he forgets. This book actually teaches the kid to lick the page!!!!! Ugh! I hope that libraries don 't carry this book!!! I give it 2 stars because if it had a more appropriate and honest title, it would be great.

   Great book!
I gave this necklace to my niece for her third birthday and she LOVES it! I am a microbiologist and realize that a good book could really help me explain the concept of microscopic organisms to her. The interactive nature of the book keeps her engaged as she takes Min on a microscopic adventure.
