Oldie but a goodie

It's an oldie, but a goodie! I read the whole thing because my husband and I are graduating and still are not exactly sure which path to take in our career.

What type of work environment is right for you.
Derived From Web , May 15, 2022
This book will tell you what kind of work environment you need through Myers-Briggs. I did not find it useful for pointers to specific jobs, but it told me what properties are most important in the jobs, the people and my role in the organization. If you think that you already know it, you may be surprised. From this point you can then view specific careers and organizations from an informed point of view.

Self exploration!
Derived From Web , May 15, 2022
If you're familiar with the MBTI classification, you'll breeze through this book. For those who are not, it gives a good overview of 16 personality types, including strengths and weaknesses and how they relate to career choices. The format provides examples of people and how they make decisions, guided by the principals of identifying what career type fits their personality. I bought it for a high school senior who is exploring options, but found useful information for myself and I have been in the same field for 19 years. Enjoy learning about how who you are can lead you to do what you should learn!

Seems practical
Derived From Web , May 15, 2022
I like it, but how do you know what personality you are? Your personality can change, I mean that the brain is a very adaptive organ. I think that personality tests are whack.

Too complicated
Derived From Web , May 15, 2022
I bought this for my son, but he hasn 't bothered to look at it. I picked it up to figure out why and the print is very, very tiny and it is a solid print without any fun in the book. I am sorry to have spent the money on it ; I wouldn't recommend it.

Yet Another Briggs-Meyers Book (YABMB)
Derived From Web , May 15, 2022
I wish all Briggs - Meyers books used Briggs - Meyers in their titles, so that they could be distinguished from others. The abstract should come out and say that the book means by its personality type... If it was missed, I must have done it. I hoped for something deeper than a rehash of Briggs-Meyers.

Great book if you're honest to yourself.
Derived From Web , May 15, 2022
This book helps you define your strengths and weaknesses first and to find the ways you think. Then it suggests career paths for you. It is EXCELLENT. I found that the personality part matched me perfectly. Then I watched my girlfriend browse and get a totally wrong personality assessment, but it was because she didn 't take time to read the explanations of the factors before deciding what combination she was. I made her read it again and it matched her near perfectly. Both of us were suggested to take career paths we had already considered in the past as possible options and it suggested many others we hadn 't yet considered. It is a great book if you can be patient enough to let the book work for you.

Great Resource
Derived From Web , May 15, 2022
I think that this book should be required reading for college freshmen and anyone who believes that work should be enjoyable. In it you'll find a very short Myers - Briggs assessment to help you determine your personality profile. It is a great resource. I gave one copy away, but plan to hold onto it's replacement for dear life. It has helped me figure out what matters to me in a career and what to avoid when I find myself wondering what to do next as an ENFP.

This book does NOT give you a career path! You still have to figure that out.
Derived From Web , Apr 23, 2021
I don 't know what I expected, but this book teaches me nothing I didn 't already know. Don 't expect a test to give you a magic career path because it is not there yet. It is 25 chapters of Pep talks. And honestly, you will get a better value by hiring a career coach. I don 't expect anyone to read this and then magically change their attitude or change the way they work with others - it is not realistic.
