Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

It's not easy for Danny Dragonbreath to be the sole mythical creature in a school for reptiles and amphibians?especially because he can't breathe fire like other dragons (as the school bully loves to remind him). But having a unique family comes in handy sometimes, like when his sea-serpent cousin takes Danny and his best iguana friend on a mindboggling underwater tour, complete with vomiting sea cucumbers and giant squid. It sure beats reading the encyclopedia to research his ocean report . . .

Using a hybrid of comic-book panels and text, Ursula Vernon introduces an irresistible set of characters with a penchant for getting themselves into sticky situations. It's perfect for both the classroom and fans of Wimpy Kid and Bad Kitty.

Very cute series. Especially good for kids who aren't strong readers.
My son is not the best reader but he has a very good eye and is very good at books. He wants to read books on his interest level. It's very hard to find them. This book series is awesome for him because he can read it, but it is still age appropriate as well. Pictures by Frank Trejo and illustrated by Janet Grubb.

This is a pretty good book for the kids that are young, it seems a little we Kiddish for a 5th grader and higher.

   Dragonbreath
Funny, witty, and weirdly satisfying. I would read the first two books but would still be a little short.

Didn't read it, but the kid liked it okay
The money was used to replace a lost school library book. It arrived new as stated and cost me a fraction of what the Library wanted to charge. I'm not sure who they buy their books from, but what a racket. It came fast and I was able to get it to school before summer break.

   Holding interest of reader
I am interested in my great grandson developing the habit of reading for entertainment. Like series books, he said. Turner also stars in a new TV series. He is 10 years old. He has read the DogMan series, as well as other books by Robert Hein. It was my great grand son who asked me to buy it for him. He's a huge series book fan. I like that I can continue to order him affordable books. He also devoured the entire Dog Man series, as well as many other books. I recommend that you buy the books that your child likes to keep their interest in reading. A great book for boys. Very entertaining, Mr. Rule told the judge.

   Great so far!!
Holding the book by the end of each chapter, the 1st grader reads back and forth. He finds it very funny and I have enjoyed it as well. Can't wait to read more!

   Great find!
Absolutely delightful. The ratio of comic to text is low enough that I felt like my son had to do a good, solid amount of traditional reading with this, but it never lost his attention, and the occasional comic page was more of a fun “bonus” than a constant interruption. Plot is sillyfun enough to engage a reluctant 9yo but writing is imbued with surprisingly dry humor that made me laugh as he read it to me. Did not expect that in a 3rd-grade level book and am not sure he got every joke, but I did. Thrilled to find this series and definitely buying more.

   Undersea adventure
Ripping a yarn about a boy dragon with a huge imagination and a sense of adventure. Nicely illustrated. Good game, said Blair.
