Boring
Derived From Web , Jul 31, 2021
My 10 - year-old son thought it was boring. I would sit down in his room and read him a chapter a night and thought that it was boring too. We almost got halfway through the book and called it quits. Can 't finish it. Instead, Harry Potter moves to Wimnor.

Love this book! Would highly recommend for reading with and to kids
Derived From Web , Jul 6, 2021
This book was written very well. My children are reading this together with 8 and 6 sun e. We read about 2-3 chapters a day, but the storyline and writing style makes me want to keep reading without them! It is rated for children ages 8-12, but I would still recommend for slightly younger children as well. Looking for the other book by this author?

Great reading comprehension book and very relatable
Derived From Web , Jul 22, 2020
This is a great book and a great storyline. I bought this item for a boy between 6 and 8. He was really excited to have a book that did not have sports in it. We love the fact that he used his imagination so much that he could really be connected with the book. It also allowed him to comprehend the storyline, which is critical for children at that age.

My 3 year old loves this!
Derived From Web , Jun 26, 2020
Great book! My three year old has been battling to find books that interest him. Toddler's books are too boring. This is the first book he asked me to read to him in ages! I love that it uses different vocabulary than the other early chapter books we have tried. Definitely a good buy! Definitely a good buy! ''

Captivated my 6 year old
Derived From Web , Jul 18, 2019
I read a chapter to my 6 year old son each night and he LOVED it. He couldn 't wait to find out what happened, but couldn 't wait to find out what happened. He was a little disappointed at the ending though and wanted it to continue. But don 't we all want this after we read a favorite book? Bravo on the cultural elements. It is great to see this in a well written children's adventure book. Sequel, please! !

Exciting new series
Derived From Web , Apr 13, 2019
I read this book aloud to my fifth graders, and we enjoyed thoroughly the kickoff to this engaging urban fantasy series! Jax has no idea what is in store for him when his mother drops him for a day with Ma. From an insistent squirrel to an invisible guide to that mysterious, moving box... you 'll be drawn into Jax's world and the promise that magic can indeed bring it back to New York after all. This fall we can 't wait for book two!

Wonderful beginning to a new series! Just wished it was more than an introduction.
Derived From Web , Oct 28, 2018
I really enjoyed this book, but it is just an introduction to a new series and an intriguing universe of magic. The story ended without any type of closure and a lot of questions. I liked the characters, the portrayion of magic, the writing was well done, but I am disappointed that this did not feel like any part of a complete story. For a short book it could have been made twice as long and children would still have the stamina to read it, and it would have felt more like a complete story than an introduction. I hope I don 't have to wait for the second too long. It has so much great stuff, a diverse urban setting, talking animals, relatable children characters who are fascinated with learning and knowledge, time travel and multiple dimensions. I am very hopeful for it to be a great series for children and will appeal for sure to those from the 2nd-4th grade.
