I love Lief, Barda, and Jasmine!
Lief, Barda, and Jasmine are continuing their quest for the gems from the Belt of Deltora. They meet a group of helpful Kin who help them get to their original homeland, Dread Mountain. There is a battle between Vraal, the Dread Gnomes, and Gellick. There are only three more books left in the Deltora Quest series, so finishing Dread Mountain was a problem. There is something special about the relationship between Lief, Barda, and Jasmine that makes me feel like I am hanging out with my old friends. Everyone should read this book and the entire series. It makes a family read.

Deltora Quest #5 -- An Excellent Adventure!
My 9- year- old granddaughter is reading with me. I am enjoying the books as much as she is. They are well written and full of twists and turns. They support the values of friendship and loyalty. If you' re interested in fantasy literature, I would recommend Dread Mountain and the other books in the series.

   A Great Gift as well
The review for Delta Quest # 1 The Forests of Silence was posted on the Deltora Quest website. I initially bought books for my great- grandson. I went back to Amazon and ordered the remaining four books. The tenth book in the series will be released in January of next year and will become part of his collection on his birthday in May.

   Dread Mountain
I think it is time to go to the Shadowlands. Onward with strength and knowledge! The belt and wearer are getting stronger. The Shadow Lord is close to being destroyed.

Interesting developments in the story arc
The action in each book is a variation on the action in the other books in the multibook series. I expected that when I realized Lief needed seven gems. There are seven basically interchangeable quests. Rodda has a few tricks up her sleeve, starting with this volume some new characters are in the offing, and some interesting revelations and twists are on the horizon. In addition to being well- written for a young reader fantasyquest book series, the volumes also show much more attention to plot and development than expected. The series is picking up speed and tension rather than being bulked up and drawn out.

   Gems of Children's Fantasy
I read these as a kid and I have found them on the e- reader. I had to revisit the world that I loved the most. Rodda's writing is superb and even as an adult I find myself drawn into the story and unable to put down the novels I read as a child. The series would be good for kids interested in fantasy fiction.
