Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

Ethics plays a crucial, if subtle, role in Gilles Deleuze's philosophical project. Michel Foucault claimed that Anti-Oedipus was 'a book of ethics, the first book of ethics to be written in France in quite a long time.' But what is the nature of the immanent ethics that is developed in Deleuze's thought? How does it differ from previous conceptions of ethics? And what paths does it open for future thought, given the ethical challenges facing humanity in so many domains?

Each of the eleven essays in this collection explores the ethical dimension of Deleuze's thought along a new and singular trajectory, and in so doing, attempts to reclaim his philosophy as an ethical philosophy.

Contributors include Jeffrey A. Bell, Levi R. Bryant, Laura Cull, Erinn Cunniff Gilson, Eleanor Kaufman, Kenneth Surin, Anthony Uhlmann, James Williams and Audrone Zukauskaite.

Daniel W. Smith is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Purdue University. Nathan Jun is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Midwestern State University.

Great literature for the faithful christian with many points to help defend your beliefs in this day and age of so many attacks on Christianity.

pointing out that any and all skills or techniques one might read about and learn in this area are useless if we do not personal
It deals with the theme of spiritual warfare at a level of depth and sophistication that is unusual. Renner is a Sholar of Biblical Greek to the extent that he is able to understand the full richness and power of the original text and translate it to language and concepts we can extract. He begins the book by distancing himself from the spiritual warfare movement or craze that draws a lot of attention from Christians, pointing out that any and all skills or techniques in this area are useless if we do not personally commit to living in a humble and holy way that is pleasing to God. His ability to bring a full understanding of all embedded in Paul's words is probably unequalled in this subject matter, at least in this subject matter relating to the robust armor of God in Ephesians 6. I can not recommend this book highly enough ''.

   Great Reference Type Book
Dressed To Kill by Rick Renner is definitely a great reference book that you can refer to continually in order to obtain great information. This book is very detailed and written as a teaching type book on the armor of God. No matter how much you think you know about spiritual warfare and using the Armor of God, you will find information in this book that you have not read before. It is excellent to read or use as teaching material.

I never appreciated the armor as much as I knew I should - until I read this
I have read about the armor of God in Scripture and in books, and it seemed good enough to me, but never spoke deeply until I began to read it. I am impressed, and grateful ''.

Excellent Expounding On The Topic By A Scholar of Unusual Understanding And Skill.
I have found Mr. Renner's expertise in the Greek and Hebrew language, as well as his immense familiarity with the times and cultures of the biblical peoples, to bring the scriptures to life in a way that makes them highly understandable and applicable to Christians today.

   Body Armor in Ephesians 6
Did you know that Roman armor is the basis for the body armor of God? This is the battle we are in and everyone needs to know the importance of putting on your body armor daily as we walk in faith during this spiritual battle of the present day. This book is highly recommended.

EXCELLENT Book - 5 Stars! A MUST read!
Fantastic Book!!! '' Very interesting - hard to put this book down, as I have found myself going back and re-reading and referring to the material again and again. What a Christian biok to add to the wonderful library! I highly recommend this book to be read by Christians who love Christ and seek guidance from the Holy Spirit. As a Christian of over 40 years, I am grateful to have discovered this book and author Rick Renner! I read his other books now as well. Has really helped me in my knowledge and understanding of the Bible.

Better Citation Needed to be Seriously Considered
It is handsomely printed and looks good on a shelf. The author takes liberties in his spiritual applications with the armor of God. And repeats, repeats, and continually repeats itself. The overall lack of citing sources leads the reader to believe that many of the items described are mere shepherd stories '' that have little connection to actual historical events. In a somewhat disappointing read, I hoped that better scholarship was performed, and his constant references to the original languages pressed beyond reasonableness. It came across as sophomoric at times and was stretched so far in some places that it could change the original context of the verse.

   Mmm..Okay
There were a few nuggets for me in the book, can 't say that it was a total bust. I'm halfway through. I find it verbose and repetitive ''. Take away the redundant and the 400+ pages could easily be shortened to 100 or less and you would still not miss any crucial points. I would have preferred more Bible cross references than all that description is “over and over ”.
