Book Overview

Steven Spielberg's classic sci-fi story of interplanetary friendship makes a perfect picture book for the whole family.

When E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was released in theaters thirty-five years ago, its bittersweet story enchanted millions and the film surpassed Star Wars to become the highest-grossing movie of all time. Now the cinematic blockbuster is transformed into an illustrated storybook, with colorful, adorable drawings by Kim Smith. Here is a story you can't help but love: After E.T. is stranded on Earth, he takes refuge with Elliott, a boy in need of a friend. Together they find a way to help E.T. get back home. Along the way, both child and alien learn important lessons about courage, friendship, and the power of imagination. This is the perfect read-along story for children, their parents, and E.T. fans across the universe.

Perfect Way to Share E.T. with the Little Ones
I recently discovered that there is a whole line of children's books based off of films from when I grew up. Why did I know this sooner? I absolutely love this as now I can share with my grandkids some of my favorite childhood memories E.T. ''. Definitely one of my favorites. I cried a few times back like a baby, and I bet I would now too. I remember going to McDonald's to get one of these toys in my happy meal I always wanted a movie poster, but never managed to get one. Definitely recommend for E.T. The fans of all ages are here.

   Love it!!!
Movie retells are often disappointing, but not this one! This is the best children's adaptation of a movie I have ever seen in both words and illustrations. My 5 year old son asks quite often at bedtime for it!

Nice rendition of one of Steven Spielberg's best films
This series is ideal for those with children who know about the 1980s'films or those who want to relive their cherished childhood memories. I have received it for the nostalgia value, and because I wanted to see another version of the story via illustrations. And now, I have Kindle, it will only take up space on my computer and not my bookshelves. Talk of a smaller physical book collection. But hey, if you love ET and want to see it in an illustrated format, try this out. It is one of Indiana Jones'Best-known films, along with Spielberg. Which reminds me that this storybook series should have some children-friendly versions of the Indiana Jones films. Is there a gamer with me?

Sharing my youth with my young children
This brought me back to my youth! And it is written in a way that I can share my 24 year olds with a smile and they enjoy it without being scared. Really good artwork and nostalgic.

   Not my favorite
Just basic resemblance to the original story. Boy finds “goblin ''. Interest did not hold. Very nice illustrations. Would not recommend to get the full picture of the original movie.

   You will LOVE this book!!!!!
This book is AMAZING ''. All the best scenes included perfectly with the best details illustrated! I love that the text is simple to read at bedtime to a child, unlike other book versions of movies we bought recently that have paragraphs of text on each page. That is even my attention span just too much! This is probably my favorite children's book ever, and I have read quite a few as a teacher. Of course, ET is one of my favorite movies of all time, but this is the perfect book version of it! I can 't wait to see what other have made in the Pop - classics - collection too! Sooo is done completely well!

   No need to read English
I and my three-year-old boy can not speak, read and hear English easily. But the pictures showed and led us the full story. As the old movie fascinated my young days, the book story enchanted my son, it was a relatively long story. We were strained, astonished, and delighted at every scene. When the story was over, we breathed out and took a sip of water to moisten our dry throat. The pictures tell us not in English, but in our language. No mistranslation, I am thrilled that my son will be moved after meeting the old film.

A great way to introduce E.T. to your young child
This is a really cute retelling of the story of the film. It is made for young audiences and skips some materials in the movie, which are sometimes too scary for children. For example, in this book E.T. is mentioned. The day spends at home exploring the house, but does not drink beer, nor does Elliott release the frogs due to his psychic intoxication. E.T. also has a variety of interesting characters : He is not caught by the government and does not die before the ship returns to Earth to pick him up. The illustrations are great and make E.T and everyone look really cute. Before they are ready for the actual movie, they are :
