When I was preparing for an interview, I wanted to brush up on some concepts, so I started reading this book. I was out of touch with advanced C++ for 2 years but was doing some C++ programming in- between. You learn all these things when you have good programming experience. If I had read this book a few years ago, I would have learned these concepts much earlier. If you' re like a college student or graduate with a basic C++ programming experience, but want to learn next level, this is the book for you.

Excellent, and accessible

One of the rare kind of technical books is this one. The tone is full of information. If you want to understand the nuances of C++, you need an instructor who is willing to talk to you about it and show you code. Most books will show source code. In order to cover a topic, Meyers introduces it, provides insight that only comes with experience, and throws in humor to lighten the load. He' ll show you how to use the code to demonstrate his point. There are many books that are 500 pages or more. There are many books that need to cover the basics, and then cover the subjects for non- neophytes. The book is full of ideas for programmers. One of the few technical books that you can read from cover to cover is this one. Many are accessible, but not good for references. This is also both.

I'm a professional C programmer who needs to develop a seriouscompetency in C++ without messing around. The book has been helpful, readable, and brief. I' ve seen a lot of books that I' ve hated and few that I' ve liked. This one is good.
