Chelzy, her brother, Matthew, and their friend, Tory, acquire a very timeworn, locked journal, unaware of the evil it contains. Upon opening the journal, The Trio, as Chelzy, Matthew, and Tory are known, and their black cat, Lady Vivian, are drawn into an unfinished fairy tale. Now infused into the story, The Trio meets the author of the fairy tale, who was also abducted into the story, and together they investigate why they were kidnapped. Working as a team, The Trio and the author discover an evil book traveler whose selfish motives endanger the townspeople and creatures of the surrounding forests.Suspense and intrigue are interwoven with magic and a diverse cast of characters throughout the fairy tale. Despite befriending creatures such as a unicorn, a centaur, and a whimsical gnome, The Trio must contend with malicious creatures, like a griffin and goblin, that help the book traveler pursue his mission. As The Trio learns more about the book traveler, they come to realize that if they don't succeed in their quest, they may never be able to return home . . . or even survive.
