The FIRST VOLUME of a MUST HAVE collection of COMPLETE and concise information on ALL electronic components !
This is the FIRST of a COMPLETE SET of volumes of digital components, from the older to the latest in technology. It provides a concise but accurate overview of all of the electronic components and I plan to order the rest of the set just to use it as a COMPLETE reference library in my office. In all, a great set of books for anyone in ELECTRONICS FIELDS!

   Excellent resource!
I can not wait for volumes 2 and 3 to come out! This is not a book how to do. But if you're looking for an overview of parts..., this is your book!

   Concise, graphical, and accessible
It provides three main benefits over other resources : 1) It is concise and well laid out. Chapters are typically 8 picture-filled pages long, so it is actually faster to find information in this paper book than online! I love diagrams and pictures ). They are common and communicate better ideas than the more prose-centric Wikipedia articles. What can go wrong sections are particularly valuable in transferring the wisdom of experience.

   Good for a jump start
If you are new to writing and electronic, this is a good resource and points you in the right direction, but is far from an encyclopedia. It would be nice if there were examples of projects and how the specific components worked. There is an in depth explanation of the types of components and why why they worked, but after reading it I was left wanting more. All in all, a good beginner reference, but far from an encyclopedia.

Highly Recommend all titles fro MAKE
If you are not familiar with MAKERSHED, check out these books by MAKER Media or MAKERSHED. Written in plain English without speaking to you. Recommend all titles for MAKE highly. In case you are interested, there is also a MAKE magazine.

It is extremely easy to look up any component within the realm of ...
In this book you will find that it provides the most essential information about what a particular component is, how it is used and what to expect from it. It is extremely easy to search for any component within the realm of volume. Instead of having to each go to a computer or a usable device, I find it much easier to go to this book first.
