Terrific book in an exceptional series
I heartily recommend not just this book, but the entire three volume series on components that completes this book. As an electronics engineer, I am in a position to judge the quality of these books, and I have been blown away by how good they are ever since the first came out. These books are, however, not just for engineers, but for everyone with an interest in electronics. This describes the principals behind the sensors, but is unable to get into great detail, as it covers such a range of components, it would require a series of manuals to do so. But it exposes the reader to what is out there, how they work, how one uses them, what can go wrong and what one should watch out for.

   Very well done.
I find them very informative and concise, and to the point. I read this series of the books at Best Buy!

Perfect foe the novice and intermediate creatior or tinkerer.
This is a really nice set of books and I highly recommend buying all 3 volumes, as I did. The authors are very descriptive of each circuit or component with an explanation of how they are used, some history, images and schematics. I bought these because I am a novice in electronics and this is my COVID hobby.

GOAT = Greatest Of All Time
I have always wanted to learn more about electronic components. Not only does he tells you how it works and what its function is, he tells you about the application and what can go wrong. If all books were written like this, I would be able to learn anything easily. Can 't say enough good things about this book. I ordered #2 and #3 just for fun. He had more wishes. , '' he said.

   Great information for learning professionals
These books are loved. I use them to read and study on my down time, and it does an excellent job of describing the component, its function, where you could find it and the electrical schematic symbol for this part. This has helped me a lot in learning electrical wiring symbols and on the job usefulness. Highly recommended highly.
