   Short and full of quotes
I'm a little disappointed with this book. It was mostly citations from other books and films. It did have a great message that we are born into a great story and that we play a critical role.
   Not a bad book.
Written by the author, well received. I agree with most of what he says. I guess I was hoping for a few hints.
Epic Truth in a small little book
I wish there were more stars, but I've five the best and so is this book. In Epic, John Eldredge speaks to the heart of God, who resides in a whole different way... a way I relate. I can not say enough about this writing! To summarize, it would not come near what it deserves, but I'll make a feeble attempt. And we all relate to life by other stories... looking for a happy ending, looking for rightwrong, looking for those things that speak to our hearts. And that is because we are part of a much larger story and we look inherently for what he is looking for and directing us towards. In that larger story, once we tap into it..., we already know the ending, and that should cause us to live our lives, so our stories prove the larger picture for ourselves and others.
GREAT book ... great revelation about each of our lives
Eldredge is a great writer and brings us to realize we are not the star in our own story... but God's story is greater than ours... instead of trying to force out our own story for our own glory. It takes the pressure off to be successful in our own direction, rather. We're under His wing and know well that we are on a team... and we don't have to be the captain. This is a stress reliever. We simply need to be tuned in and to be aware of his story and the part we play. With the English language, Eldredge's use is very easy to read... not a studious book... but it is packed with encouraging and exciting truths.
   Puts things in perspective.
I have read other books by John Eldredge and this is among his best works. It is not gender-oriented, like the Wild at Heart or Captivating books are. Instead, it reaches us as humans in general to give us a perspective and an insight into something we have written on our hearts. John brings it just to the surface, so we can recognize it all for what it is. I read this book in a matter of hours and then ordered a few copies for friends and family. They all told me that they passed through it and, when they were done, loved it. My father, an avid TV viewer and Book Hater, read this book in two days. He said that it took him that long because he hates to sit for long periods of time, but the book was so good that he was on page 60 after the first time he opened it. It is worth the buy. And it is definitely worth the time.
Perhaps good for some; but I was disappointed
I found Epic to be disappointing from the aspect of the developing relationship with God. Although the orator does give a nice background to God's Plan and our location in the midst of things. There is a significant amount of story-telling about many other stories, which I find it kept bringing me back to human events to explain Godly events. I would have preferred the reverse. God's events and purpose are to increase human events and purpose. More of God's creation. Less is human.
   Brilliant story of our lives!
This is a brilliant book in the way Elderridge tells us so succulently the way our lives fit into God's Plan, where we are on the map so to speak. Highly recommended, highly recommended.
   Worth reading over and over...
First, I have to admit that I am a fan of John Eldredge's writings. I read this book several times but purchased it just recently on Kindle. Eldredge writes in such a way as to connect with me in ways that are both spiritual and practical. This book gets you thinking and praying.
Bomb the Bomb is John Eldredge! Love how the Holy Spirit provides such great insight into the word. Great read! I would teach from this book completely.
   Awesome Story!
I heard this book through the audio book provided and it was simply wonderful. I recommend it to you completely.
