The book seems OK, but the image clearly shows that it comes with the DVD and CD, but not. Only if you buy the teacher - book and enter the code from this book can you have access.

   A Good Place to Start
This is a good beginner book for the double bass instrument, I am pleased with how easy it was to learn the basics. Like I said, it is a beginner book and only went over a few scales, the D and C major scales, I believe. It also comes with a CD and DVD to help you improve your skills by playing along, but I haven t used it. The DVD is intended to show how to play the instrument and things of this nature, but not necessarily how to sit and hold the notes. The book does a good job of explaining this, though.

Better for Violin, Viola and Cello.
This is a good method book for heterogeneous music classes, but would not use it for teaching basses in private lessons. The CD, DVDCD ROM and SmartMusic makes this very user-friendly for kids. The bass is, however, asked too often and too early for playing songs. I like getting kids to shift early, but prefer to have a more basic review first.

   Great tool
As a music teacher, I bought this book for one of my string courses. This book has a very thorough way of teaching concepts and explaining them from the beginning. I would recommend this book to any aspiring string player.

Excellent ramp-up for a student with experience
I already learned two other stringed instruments ''. This book moves at a nice pace from the super basic basics into more challenging material to grow your skill set. This site is highly recommended.

An excellent first book for learning the bass!
Great first book for people learning bass. I play and teach many woodwind and brass instruments and I dabble with the violin so that I have a good idea of what makes for a good book to learn from, and this fits with my philosophy very nicely. This book starts with open strings and gradually introduces notes that require fingers on the strings. It also starts with pizzicato playing, so that the student becomes comfortable on the instrument before it introduces the use of the bow. This book has good explanations for what to do and clear pictures to demonstrate.

   Good place to start
This program takes the new string player through the basics nice and slowly. Several familiar tunes were interspersed with exercises. My teen and I are going together with this book to orchestra class, and I think we're doing well.
