   Strong chemical smell
I can 't keep this up. Instead of that bad smell that we are all used to, even though it arrived in a plastic bag, the book itself had a beautiful new perfume and a chemical scent when opened. To the point of rendering it impossible to read, let alone hold. This itself warrants a one-star review, but the book is beautiful and is beautifully produced if it is actually usable. A description for all these illustrated books also states that the interior lettering is repeated on the covers. This is not all that true. At last, everything was fine. The illuminated '' writings on the inside are all of a shade of copper-brown color, that has a bit of dull brown vibe to them, but not * at all* gold, as the Coveris stated.

   Perfect to draw teen interest in family devotion time.
I love the ESV Illuminated Scripture Journal! We got Proverbs '' for each of us in the family and have been through it as a family. We each take turns reading a part of the chapter and then spend 2 minutes finding the verses that stand out to us, then take turns sharing about the one we chose and why. It is low pressure and insightful. Because the books are pretty and there is room to write it draws interest. I'm so grateful!

We started studying Proverbs in our Bible study of women, and having this copy of Proverbs is so helpful! I can take notes on the side and do all the annotating and note taking I need to within the scriptures. I love being able to see back and see notes specific to this study as well. The only thing I wish is that the dots were a little darker, so it was easier to write in low lighting!
