This is seriously dated at this point, and their knowledge of how IBM was run under Sam Palmisano is woefully incorrect. If you can ignore the first 3rd of the book, the other two thirds are focused on strategy and people processes. They all have to be in sync to move forward, but gone are the days of the line manager being pushed from above to make all the decisions, instead it is up to the players to make the decisions.
   Absolutely essential
This book is about the primal ingredient of the success execution. Ram and Larry put together the essentials, and are not from another world. Today's managers are so in love with strategy that they forget most often how to put it into practice. This book will take you through the messy and turbulent stages of actually making it happen. A thoughtful lecture. Sadly, in Latin America they have released a translated version that is simply not executable. They translated verbally instead of making sense of the text in another cultural context.
execution as important part of leadership
Interesting point of view on the role of the execution in business. According to authors, Exdcution plays a huge role in the business of the automobile. Building and achieving visions is absolutely critical, as is inspiring others, but the rigorous delivery of committed goals is equally important. Execution has various aspects and is at the fundaments of leadership. In the book you will find different examples from various organisations, illustrating the point of view of the authors. A book that is absolutely worth reading!
   excellent read-a must for leaders
Foundational work is required. Excellent and very thoughtfully written by very credible and polished professionals.
Great content, relevant to our times
The presentation is balanced between telling the story and narrative. I have the audio version in the car and the e-book on my ipad.
   Great Book
Book excellent on leadership and driving Working through others to get tasks accomplished. Examples of some of the greatest leaders!
   Too superficial to be useful
The book is interesting for those who would like to have a basic understanding of an executive mindset. The subjects are, however, presented in a very superficial way. The authors provide a bird's eye view of what they believe that the organization should do in order to perform well. For that, they use some cases of a few companies they worked for as executives and consultants. The book is not that useful without a more detailed explanation about what should be done and some information about how to do it.
The lessons learned from this book are valuable, but is so dry, it is hard to finish. It rambled and was not engaging.
Solid Read for young business and non-business leaders
I don 't have much of a business background, but I work in a field that requires this strategy to be carried out by diverse teams in multiple areas. There was more than enough material from which I was able to pull and apply.
