Beautifully written, thoughtful SF short stories
Derived From Web , Nov 14, 2021
I can only hope that some of the short stories in this book will find their way into movies as The Story of Your Life was made into a smash hit by Warner Bros. Pictures in 2001.

Thoughtful tales told well
Derived From Web , Oct 21, 2021
I don't typically like short stories, but this one stands out. Ted Chiang's writing is clear and efficient, the stories are well paced, the themes easy to follow but deeply thoughtful. Great read, said Dr. Chester Floyd, director of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Journeys into the human experience with a sci-fi twist.
Derived From Web , May 13, 2021
Ted Chiang writes his stories the way he writes them. It was an enjoyable journey, full of different storytelling styles, said Blair. I now recognize that he was probably the most uniquely Chinese of all the Nobel winners.

My favourite book of the year so far
Derived From Web , Apr 26, 2020
And I dont even have the words to describe how much I loved this collection of short stories. It was just the type of hybrid sci-fi I love to read, and I can't stop thinking about it. But The Merchant and the Alchemist's Gate, The Lifecycle of Software Objects, The Truth of Feeling, and Anxiety were all favourites of mine.

Don’t waste your money on this poor quality presentation book, I love ted, order it from elsewhere
Derived From Web , Apr 2, 2020
This is a really bad version, the hardcover paper seems to have been cut with human hand, very poor quality. The first time I got the good, I thought it had a defect because of its presentation and ordered a replacement, now I got an exact same condition replacement and not able to get refund. I love the author and I was buying it as a collection, now I have to throw it away. Not recommended to anyone.

Some of these are difficult to read or ubderstand
Derived From Web , Feb 22, 2020
It is not easy to read a book. It was just that a good friend was reading it. But I did not read all the stories. Overall, I liked the first one, but it was too complicated or not interesting.

A must read for sci fi aficionados
Derived From Web , Jan 26, 2020
I'm delighted that Penguin Random House has chosen these great writers to pen a collection of stories. If you read previous works by this writer, don't hesitate and buy this book, you will love it. If you have never read anything by James Gunn, but like short fiction stories that will entertain you while keep you thinking about morality, future of humanity, decision making, etc then this is a gold treasure for you.

Ted Chaing is one of the best storytellers ever.
Derived From Web , Jul 17, 2019
Each story could be considered a science fiction story, because it is based on an alternate philosophy of life or technology unknown in our time. They are believable and likable characters, understandable situations in the midst of weirdness, everything I like in a great story.

He has done it again
Derived From Web , Jun 14, 2019
Good Science Fiction writers open up the mind to the possibilities that have always been right in front of us, but we've been trained to see them differently or not at all. Other writers, including Robert Hein, have used the can opener that other writers just use for beer.

An Architecture Of Delicacy And Abstraction
Derived From Web , May 24, 2019
Beautifully moving, with essentially beautiful tales of intricately lucid-formed propositions that might leave the reader feeling they've seen into some other, exquisite world. This is a science fiction story of marvelous imagination and form, and though the stories are just the correct length, the reader simply wishes more. I can't recall the last time I so frequently returned to an earlier page, and simply re-read passages out of sheer pleasure and wonder at their implications, he said. This is a very special collection of stories, and perhaps something to share with the right person, Mr. Dhaliwal said. Its ideas shine like diamonds on black satin - highly recommended.
