Book Overview

In business, performance is key. In performance, how you organize can be the key to growth.

In the past five years, the business world has seen the birth of a new breed of company-the Exponential Organization-that has revolutionized how a company can accelerate its growth by using technology. An ExO can eliminate the incremental, linear way traditional companies get bigger, leveraging assets like community, big data, algorithms, and new technology into achieving performance benchmarks ten times better than its peers.

Three luminaries of the business world-Salim Ismail, Yuri van Geest, and Mike Malone-have researched this phenomenon and documented ten characteristics of Exponential Organizations. Here, in EXPONENTIAL ORGANIZATIONS, they walk the reader through how any company, from a startup to a multi-national, can become an ExO, streamline its performance, and grow to the next level.

A must read on harnessing exponential technologies to create exponential organizations of the 21st century and beyond!
This is an incredible book that encapsulates the impact of exponential technologies on businesses and complements what I learned from a leading thought leader in this field, Singularity University. It provides clear case studies on how disruptive technologies affect industries and organizations, with a prescription to find and ride the wave of huge opportunities using them not just within the organizations, but also for budding entrepreneurs who will be the future Ubers and AirBnBs of the world. It is a very well researched work and ought to be the reference manual for disruptive technologies that are moving at an unprecedented exponential pace, as well as for entrepreneurs concerned with identifying and riding the wave of these technologies. This book complements other books, such as Peter Diamandis'apos ; Abundance, the future is better than you think, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading and learning from it. Salim and Team deservedly well done!

an Optimistic and thoughtful point of view about the future of business
The authors use their unique vantage point at Singularity University to describe what they see in a new breed of businesses that can scale from start-up to multi-billion - enterprises within a decade. They refer to these as abundant organizations '' driven by information and the ability to transform once scarce resources into exponential sources of value for consumers and business. It is an interesting point of view. The authors present a very optimistic view of the future and describe some of the near-term technologies that enable these shifts. They explore the forms that these ExOs take and what existing enterprises can do to take advantage of the shift to information-driven businesses. The book is jam packed with ideas, templates, guiding principles and fascinating speculation on where all this is headed. It is a good read and something provocative for any senior management team to read and discuss as part of their strategic planning activities.

Salim has brought together a critical mass of ideas and ...
Salim has brought together a critical mass of ideas and facts organized to show the key ingredients for building and restructuring organizations for a new model of exposure. These are organizations that achieve much greater achievement and faster growth with far fewer resources than we would have believed could be done even a few years ago. Salim explained and gives examples of how purpose and tools and systems and leadership and organizational fluidity all come together to make Exponential organizations work. Essential reading for established companies that need to wake up as well as startups, while even a brief read will make a powerful impression. This book is worthy of study and rethinking.

   A great perspective
In my opinion, the immune response of the larger organization is pretty severe.

   Awesome book
I loved this book, the way it is written is almost a guide for how to build an exponential organization and it gave me several ideas to use in my business.

... had to crystallize it and the authors did that nicely.
All seems obvious when you crystalize it, but somebody had to read it and the authors did this nicely.

Very important for any company with ambitions to grow and/or stay alive
All the other people who have rated this book very high are right. It has not only helped me by making me aware, but by giving me a framework I can use to plan and build a business strategy. I am so glad that I read it before it goes to the market.

   Stimulating, scary, necessary!
After seeing Salim speak at an industry conference, I read this book. I am one of those administrators who was more or less unaware of the depth of a revolutionary thought along these lines, even while living among many of the described innovations. I came away with a sense of urgency that fight or escape instinct and a long list of things to do. This post and we 'll see you on the global exponential playground.

Probably the best business book that I have read in a few years
Salim document with real examples as an academic the successful cases of companies he followed and nobody thought they would become so big a few years later. Waze, Facebook, AirBnB... in 2013, they were in their infancy, but Salim identifies clearly, giving you practice examples you can use in your company, the keys to success, and becoming a company that thinks linearly, not exponentially. It is easy to read and there is a continuous reinforcement of the concepts so that you do not feel overwhelmed. 5 stars :
