Book Overview

Father-ish: adjective. When a man is trying his best.

Clint Edwards equates fatherhood to the time he did an important live TV interview from home: To the viewers, he looked put-together in a nice button-up shirt . . . but below the camera he wasn't wearing any pants. And it may have looked like he was in a nice office, but he was in fact hidden in his bedroom closet because his whole house was too messy to show.

This highly relatable collection gets to the heart of parenting: all those unexpected fails, awkward conversations, and well-intentioned little white lies. Clint chronicles all these things and more with stories like The Time My Son Realized I Was Santa, I've Never Been to Hell, but I Have Been to a Little Girl's Birthday Party, and How to Get the Sex Talk Very, Very Wrong. And with each story you'll see over and over again that there really aren't any rules when it comes to parenting, and all you can do is try your best.

Whether you're a first-time parent unaware of what you've gotten yourself into yet, or a father of five, clinging to your last ounce of sanity, you'll find relief in knowing that at end of the day, we're all not wearing any pants.

   Meh..
The writing style did not appeal to me. I tried, but I couldn t finish it. It is possible that my own life is a little too interesting now because of my toddler.

   Good stories, bad publishing.
After being annoyed with a ridiculous number of bolded excerpts that are completely unnecessary and distracting, I almost didn 't read past the intro chapter.

   Doesn’t resonate with every dad
I bought this for my boyfriend on Father's Day. We both thought that it would be good. But he does not relate to the religious notes or even the stories himself. Just a different kind of men.

Honesty, humility, and hilarity. Solid buy!
I have followed Clint on social media for years and often my husband and I giggle when reading his posts. We bought his previous books and this one I purchased over Christmas for some well-deserved down-time '' reading. Clint makes mistakes that many parents make when trying to raise successful humans, but he finds humility and understanding through his writing about them, and this is the real gem of this book. Yes, it's literally funny and I laughed out loud while reading his books. Highly recommended.

Eloquently Written Perspective on the (Sometimes) Horrifying Truths of Parenthood
I LOVE '' CLINT EDWARDS. I think his writing has grown over the years to not only display the nuances of being an adult, but also the mixture of horror and blessing that we feel as parentscaretakers of said youths. I always find myself a little bit misinterpreted at some of the more delicious bits, as the Catharsis delivered here is quite sentimental *chef's kiss*. My children aren 't quite as old as Clint's, my oldest at his youngest age, but this book serves as a peek into the fights to come and the dignity for which I will survive. Not to mention the consistent message of looking every once in a while at the bright side of things. As always, excellent work!

Buy this book for your husband!
I won a copy of an early copy of Fatherish through the Instagram page of the authors. I gave it to my husband, and I don 't think I have ever seen him laugh so hard at a book. To be honest, I think I've seen him read a few books during our 10 year marriage. He read it in a few days and then told me that he never felt so good about being a dad. He then offered to get our kids to sleep. I don 't know exactly what happened, but it was the sweetest thing I ever seen, and I decided to buy copies of this book for all the dads in my family.
