   Good book for foraging for wild greens
The pictures are bright. This book has colorful pictures to identify the plant. It is much better. Every Spring, my grandmother and I would go 'greening' and she would know everything about plants. I haven't looked myself in years because I don't know what's going on. I can really see what the plant looks like when I look at it.

   Great book to have on hand even if you don't eat wild edibles!
The book is good. We haven't tried it, but it's fun to use it to identify wild plants. Someday, we may try eating some of them. You really want to keep small children away from some of the plants. We lost the book when we went to visit family out of state, so we bought another copy. It is a good book.

   Basically useless
Don't know what book the reviewers are talking about. The book is useless. It's small and the pictures are terrible. They are so large that you don't know what you're looking at. I'm familiar with plants but can't see what's in the picture alone. A book with no pictures is nonsense. I rarely return books I don't like because I always think I could use them. Not this one, that's for sure. I wouldn't have paid that much for this.

   Can't identify the plants from pictures.
I was looking for a good book about wild plants. This is not the case. You cannot identify plants from the pictures. There are many pictures of plants that are unclear and poorly composed. Some of them are wearing black and white. I can easily identify several plants, for example I pick cranberries every fall. I would not have been able to identify them from the pictures. I gave it to my wife, who said the same thing. The map in many of the descriptions does not show where you can find the plants. There is a distribution map in the front of the book. The last line of the description is Poisonous Look-alikes. It's handy if you can identify the plant. I will return the book.

   Good but not great
There are better books. It is a good addition to my collection. Who knows what other mistakes may be in the picture of stinging nettle. I don't think everything in this place is from personal experience or knowledge.

   Great Edible Plant Field guide Book.
The book guide has full color pictures and is easy to understand. It has information on the seasons and where the plants are likely to be found in the United States. It has information on poisonous plants and look alikes. I used an earlier addition to the feild guide and found it very useful in derermining plants. I would not have eaten food without this reference. It's great for camping and backpacking. There is no information about mushrooms. Including nut bearing trees.

   Stop the bashing
Everyone should have more than one book so they can have better reference books. I own a number of books about plants and this one is not bad. There are a lot of local plants of the Northeastern that are easy to identify and it comes with decent pictures. You should have a second reference book to make sure you know which poisonous plants are out there because this book doesn't show all of them but it does have a section on poison plants. I received the book today and have already read it. I think it's a pretty good book, better than a lot of other ones I've read.

   Fantastic Edible Plant Identification Guide
The book on plant identification is the best. Heavy duty pages have clear sharp photos of each one. I have a side BDU pants pocket. In this case you really get what you pay for. A friend of mine that is a survivalist bought his own copy of the book after taking a look at it.

   ... really explore this book as much as I would like. However
I don't have time to really read this book as much as I would like. I found some answers to some of the questions I had. I didn't know the name of the plants I found, but I used to snack on them. This book is a good one for me.
