   Fantastic!
Have 2 books by Kevin Macpherson and use them to teach myself the techniques of oil painting. Thank you Mr. Macpherson for your wonderful examples and how-to instructions. I keep going back and reading chapters and poring over his luscious paintings. Love his style and enjoy his ability to explain concepts in an approachable matter.

I learned SO much from this book, highlighting several things on each page. He is a great teacher and I would recommend it to anyone who has trouble mixing colors or improving their paintings. This is a perfect book for me and I highly recommend it to any painter level.

   Brilliant landscape book
I borrowed the previous and haven gotten it back. I think that is how good it is ''. The Greens page is costing the book the cost of the book. This is a comprehensive guide to painting landscapes and is both simple to read and beautifully illustrated by McPherson's works. I recommend it highly ''. Merci beaucoup!

   Good reference for color enhancing you paintings
The book has helpful illustrations on enhancing and using more color in your oil paintings. However, I found the authors'technique to be too suggestive of objects in the picture - some may call it painterly '', but the high degree of detail is just not my approach to painting. The author uses a buildup technique that works for him, but I found it counterintuitive, as I approach my paintings. That said, if you like his painterly technique, you'll get a lot out of this book and the authors'approach to painting.

Very pedagogical explanations and lots of beautiful illustrations. His method helped me understand better techniques for color blending to convey light and shadow for use in my own paintings.

   Among the most important books for any landscape painter
I believe that this is the third time that I bought a copy of this book. When we travel and I want to paint landscapes, this is one of those must-have references that causes me to use bolder colors with more vivid results, so I don 't keep it. If you paint landscapes with oils or acrylics and possibly with watercolors, this book is a constant inspiration. It'll show you new ways to add energy and emotion to your paintings through color and contrast.
