Good book about finding your artistic voice
I just think she overused the work of Kaufman and Gregoire to prove her point. '' However, I enjoyed this book very much. It gives you strategies to find your voice and encourages you to show up every day. The last is perhaps the most important. I liked how each chapter had an interview with an artist, as you can see that the journey to finding your voice will look different due to your circumstances, influences, culture, etc. I recommend this book to any artist who has trouble finding their voice. It really helped me to see that the process is not linear.

Just what I was hoping for
I read a lot of books on the art process, but none that spoke directly to where I was on my creative journey. I recommend to all the creatives.

   Pure Gold
Interviews with a diverse group of artists gave the scope, while Lisa Congdon's essays gave the foundation. I often referenced and referred to this book.

Small, light text nakes reading difficult
Based on the positive reviews and my desire to explore my artistic voice, I was excited to order this book. Sadly, while the colored illustrations are bold and vibrant, the main text is small and light gray on white background, making it extremely difficult to see the print to read the content. If only the personal print used for the nice dark stories had been used throughout the book! Sadly, the book on wxploring creativity should not give the teader a headache merely trying to see the text.

   Create what YOU love!
I liked this book very much ''. In it, I found a great deal of encouragement from the author as well as some of the people she interviewed. Personally, I don 't feel as if MY VOICE is something I have to find or search for. I am an individual who is constantly changing so that I have learned to listen to my own ideas, but am open to learning the teaching and knowledge of others because there is always more to learn!

   helpful information
I am not a professional artist and do not aspire to be one, but I have made my own artwork off and on over the years and was an art education major as an undergraduate. I found many helpful suggestions and ideas in this book, some thoughts to ponder for sure. I also liked the interviews that the author conducted with a number of working artists to give more than one perspective. The section on how to manage influences from other artists without falling into imitation was particularly useful. I would recommend this : the author met my expectations.

   Great book for artists.
As an artist who is still finding his voice, I thought this was a great, empowering and easy read. I'm still early in my journey, but there are many gems in this book that I think would serve artists of all levels.
