   Get the tissues ready
In the summer of 1974 on Firefly Lane, there is an unlikely friendship of Kate and Tully. Kate has a loving and stable family. The cool girl is being let down by her mother. They become best friends because they seem like complete opposites. The main focus of this story is on the ups and downs of their friendship over the course of 30 years. Kate is a stay-at- home mom with a family and Tully is a famous and successful woman who dreamed of being famous for a long time. The one thing that hasn't changed over time is their strong bond. Can their friendship ever be repaired? I'll definitely be checking out more titles by her after reading this first one. It was a great read.

   Friendship
I like everything Kristin Hannah writes but this is one of her best. I just couldn’t put it down. If you like a book about a friendship between two girls that spans several years, you will love this book.

   Very Good
Firefly Lane was the first book I read by Hannah. I wanted to watch the show on the internet because I am a sucker for girlfriends. I can't watch anything based on a book I can't read first so here we are. It took me a while to read the book. This book followed the ebbs and flows of life. I imagined the end differently. It's nice not knowing what will happen. I will be looking to read another book by Hannah to see if I like her style as much as others do. The show is different.

   Beaches
This author has a good style. I loved reading The Great Alone. I enjoyed Four Winds, but it was criticized due to the similarities with The Grapes of Wrath. I have the same problem with this book. I really liked it. I cried in the right places, but I knew early on that it was very similar to Beaches and that the ending would be the same. I don't think Hannah included her own experiences here, or that it was just sentimental. The similarities between this and a beloved story are too great to ignore. It loses at least a star because there were a few points where she lost me. I like what this writer does, but I wish she wouldn't be so repetitive. Don't rant.

   Makes One Reminisce
Everyone has a girlfriend that they grew up with and shared their deepest secrets with. Is it a Kate or a Tully? I am a bit of both. I had to change my system so that I could appreciate and love my family more like Kate. It is hard to know where one ends and the other begins with these two ladies, beige and hot pink. If you grew up in the 70s, 80s, and 90s with your best friend, this book is a must read.

Had I known I would be reading a retread of Beaches, I would have saved myself time and money. I expected more after reading The Nightingale. I was very disappointed.

   A must read for a 1980’s girl
Oh wow! A great book. I watched the series first, but am enjoying the book more now. The writing is easy to read and engaging. There is more development of the main characters and less development of the minor characters which is something that I was happy about. If you are a woman with a great sister or best friend, you will identify with the characters in this book. It is not a carbon copy of the series.

   Very much like the worst Lifetime movie ever!
This was one of the worst books I have ever read. The book is young-adult fiction. The language is boring. The constant referral to pop-culture and fashion from the 70's and 80's was painful and upsetting. The story isn't original or vapid. The referral to all things Pacific Northwest was excessive and annoying. I hated this book so much I only finished it because I live in Switzerland where there is a limited selection of English language books in the shops.

   Huge disappointment if you’re a fan of The Nightingale
This was a disappointment. The Nightingale was an incredibly engaging story and I thought it was well written. Firefly Lane was by the same author. As a journalist, I am offended at how badly researched the broadcast news elements of this story were. I had to stop halfway through the book because it was becoming a total waste of time.
