A classic he-said-she-said romantic comedy This updated anniversary edition offers story-behind-the-story revelations from author Wendelin Van Draanen.

The first time she saw him, she flipped. The first time he saw her, he ran. That was the second grade, but not much has changed by the seventh. Juli says: My Bryce. Still walking around with my first kiss. He says: It's been six years of strategic avoidance and social discomfort. But in the eighth grade everything gets turned upside down: just as Bryce is thinking that there's maybe more to Juli than meets the eye, she's thinking that he's not quite all he seemed.

This is a classic romantic comedy of errors told in alternating chapters by two fresh, funny voices.

The updated anniversary edition contains 32 pages of extra backmatter: essays from Wendelin Van Draanen on her sources of inspiration, on the making of the movie of Flipped, on why she'll never write a sequel, and a selection of the amazing fan mail she's received.

   A unique perspective
I just finished the book. The two main characters are the focus of the alternating chapters. I liked the way the events came across to the two characters. I was engaged throughout the majority of the book, with the exception of a couple of chapters. This was on the district's mandated book list for read alouds, but I don't think it's appropriate for elementary students. It is geared toward middle school. I will put it in my library, but I won't say anything. When the boygirl stuff starts, they will be prepared. It is based on the 8 th graders.
Its a great story, in the 2 person point of views ...
Before I let my son watch the movie, I read him a book. The story has him wanting to read it as much as possible because it brings out a whole personality I have never seen before in his reading. Its a great story, in the 2 person point of view, and has a unique theme, heart to heart, and a great truth to life. His love for the book is something that says a lot to me. Excellent book. I wish I had gotten a copy to keep on the shelf, as I got the addition, but I only need the physical book now.
Very cute, funny and adorable story of first love (he says, she says)
When Bruce Loski's family moved into the neighbourhood, he met a man named Juli Baker. They were both going to start second grade. She instantly fell in love with him because of his blue eyes and believes that it is love. Like most boys his age, he makes it a point to avoid her, but he never saw it that way. Throughout their childhood, Juli became obsessed with the man. After some incidents that make Juli fall out of love with her, this has changed. In this case, the roles have been reversed, with the one who tried to avoid him falling for the one who was in love with him. The only downside is that there is no sequel to this story which leaves the reader wondering what's going to happen next.
   Great beginning, unsatisfying end
It should have ended around the middle but it didn't. My 14 year old daughter and I didn't like it very much.
I love this movie and book but the book came stained?
When the book arrived, the back top left corner was covered in sauce stains and I decided to own it with the movie. I'd rate it 3 stars in quality, but the story is 5 stars and some of the ink wasn't showing up inside. I will give this 4 stars, in total.
   Turn about is fair play,
The main male character in the book is almost as big a pest as the main female character was at the beginning. Many, but not all, of the characters grow, but maybe the most is Bryce. The bride's dad is not very important. He had more to go. He has to open his mind up and see with his heart because he has to learn to look under the surface.
Family love, self-care, mental health, sycamore tree
The life story of a little girl who has a long time crush on a man. When a tree was cut down, her mindset changed. She was more interested in life than love. She learned to view the world from a different point of view, but she also learned to love herself and her family.
I absolutely loved it. I liked how it showed the different perspectives of both of them. Each character's thought was shown throughout the scene. You would think that Julia was the only good one, but when you hear the perspective of Bryce, they both are understandable.
I liked how I got to experience both sides of the same scene in the first chapter, it was hers, but I was drawn in from page one. This was a happy and sad place. This book was not going to be put down.
